I need some help with a Duraspark II conversion on my Econoline panel van. I got all my parts a while back for the swap only to find that the Cardone 30-2690 distributor that I ordered for a '78 Granada won't work in my block. It is shorter overall in length and the distributor gear on it is actually larger than the distributor hole in my block. I tried a different 30-2690 hoping they had just dropped the wrong one in the right box but it was the same thing. It didn't fit. After exhausting all my local options, I sent my original distributor to a vendor in Phoenix so he could see what I was working with and send me the proper replacement. He lost my order, my original distributor and sent me phelonic carb spacers instead. Then tried to tell me that I ordered phelonic carb spacers. Rather than getting in deeper, I'd just rather shop somewhere else now. At this point I don't even have my original distributor to take mesurements from. My engine block is a 200 6cyl marked with "C8DE 6015-B" and a Cardone 30-2690 won't fit in the distributor hole. The best I can tell, this engine started life in a 1968 Falcon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim
Man, this isn't going to help Harrison, but that distributor should have fit that block with out any problem. I wonder if maybe the rebuilder might have miss packaged a batch of 240-300 distributors in 200-250 boxes. I you would like, I can hit my wholesaler here in Phoenix and go down and physically double check one for you and ship it out to ya? That way I can drop it into any one of about six blocks around here to double check it before it goes out. Give me a call at 602 881 0175.
