  1. Anybody know a nice set of gauges that can be ordered to work in a '56 Ford with little to no modifications. Thanks!

I just used Cl***ic Instruments gauges and Boese billet adapters. I ordered it all from Boese Engineering. Here's their link for the adapters: http://www.boeseengineering.com/detail.asp?product_id=44408
These are the gauges I ordered with orange pointers and a green halo high beam indicator: http://cl***icinstruments.com/gaugeselector.aspx?ProductCode=AT00SHC&SeriesCode=AT
I picked these because i think they look a lot like the originals.
Here's a picture of my gauges, sorry for the glare on them.

  6. Thanks! Can't seem to see a price. Would you happen to remember how much they cost roughly?

The adapters, gauges and senders came out to a little over $800. It ain't cheap! lol You can use different gauges with the adapters. If you go to the Cl***ic Instruments site they have the prices for the gauges. Hope this helps.

  8. Thanks Rich! I think new guages may be a little out of my price range at the moment.

So would anyone know where I could order an adapter for the original speedo to a T-5? Also could the originaly speedo be clocked back? And how hard would that be? Reason asking is I'm swapping in a new 302 and want the speedo to read 0 to start the new engines life

This is what I ended up with in my 56. Stewart Warner gauges and a Speedhut GPS speedo.
I made an aluminum plate to hold the gauges as they are slightly smaller than stock.

I'm using Omega gauges that are double bezeled (gauge with bezel pushed into stock '56 bezel from behind). Omega has since made a dash insert to accommodate their gauges. I then hand painted the speedometer to match.

Ohhhhh... instrument panel ****... I see one for my car @ $415. Maybe down the road, for now I'll hang a set of Summits under the dash and slap a tach on the steering column.

We know that late 60's Mustang speedometer cables will hook up 50's Fords to the C4 and AOD's since the T-5 is a popular swap in early Mustangs this might be a good source: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2000/09/t5swap/index.php If your car now has a Ford-O-Matic the AOD is a "real piece of cake" swap.

Note about the gauges, there are less expensive panels out there that use Dolphin Gauges but there is some bad press out there regarding there quality, too bad they have a lot of selection :(
