i don't know much about it other than what doug has told me (i'm a miler and he's the club prez) but he's gone and made his own aluminum 12 port cylinder head using yates ford heads. he welded two heads together or actually may have added an additional combustion chamber to each end of a regular head and had to move a few bolt holes around but he now has his own "super head". he had been working on it for yeeeeaarrrsssss. pretty neat piece.

A bit more inspiration. I snapped a photo of this car running at BIR a couple of summers ago. 302 GMC bored to 320 ci. Dual quads on as homemade intake. I didn't get any other info, but it was an honest 10 sec car if memory serves me correctly.

    Cool pics guys- thanks!

    Oj thanks for the info!

Nathan, there is no doubt that Doug is one of the Jimmy 'gurus'! Not only his head, but that 7 main girdle he has is a great piece too!

Pete and I don't have everything figured out yet, but we do know we'll have the Fontana/Shinner head, roller cam, roller rockers, blower, and run on fuel. The goal is 200mph in the roadster and the coupe.

Here is what I have in my 302 for the Belly Tanker: Carrillo 'H' beam rods, Fontana 4 bolt mains, steel straight cut timing gears, Isky roller cam as you mentioned I also recieved my cam blank from Don, Custom pan currently being built. The stock head (ya I know a stock head) however; I am focused on having this iron head run with the big boys as Sissel's did their majic on the head, Fontana roller rockers & roller lifters, Smith Brothers push rods, Ross slugs, Howard 5 deuce intake....

I worked for Doug, at Horsepower, once upon a time. He thought I was a spy because I took notes. Made drawings. Listened. It got itchy when I realized how devious he was with the rest of you guys, saving his top secret stuff and using a lot of misinformation to decoy the compe***ion. Getting them to follow the wild geese, as the saying goes. We all tend to do that, I guess. So don't get me wrong, I'll be the first to say he's a rocket scientist, as many will attest. His flow bench. The wind machine work for the roadster. Still, I was an employee. And, it was only a matter of time. The final scene where we parted company was less than satisfactory, for me. Now I'm working on my own 302s. I have my own ideas. That's how it should be. We take what we find and add our spin to it. On the HAMB information and ideas are offered without promise, to add to our bag of tricks. This thread gives me a nice jolt. I'm glad the subject is open. I've heard a lot of constructive stuff and I'm taking notes.

323 with Stock crank and machined rod journals for steel BBC rods and modified bearings. O-ringed block. Runs on alcohol (at the moment). Mild blower. Huge Crower roller cam. Rare-*** Arias shaft rockers. Stock head. Smallblock valves. External oiling. Vertex magneto. Runs like a beast.

This bad boy ran at Bville in 2009 piloted by Marsh Runyon, and built by Marsh and Joe Baghosian, NOTHING sounds like a Jimmy 6, NOTHING!

  10. The problem I had in building a full race 323 GMC is the racing bearings are quite scarce. A buddy made a fixture to machine the Big Chevy bearings so they'd fit the now modified "radiused" crank journals, but the mains are really tough to find. Obviously I found some but I consider myself lucky in this case.
The rear oil seal was no problem to install (and it does NOT leak). I followed the instruction sheet that came with the rope seals exactly as they call it out. I let the sealant dry for two days before I cut the ends off and set the crank in only after I was sure they were solid. The seal ends and main sealing surfaces were covered in ***embly lube. Pinned in too, as per instructions (tiny roll pin in main cap that comes with seal kit needed to be chamfered before installing it). My first attempts had me chasing it all over the floor before I sanded it into a point.

  11. This is Saline Solution II owned by Terry Haines and Jim Harte, out of Nevada City. We are very bummed about the rain-out situation this year. Can't wait for the next event!

  12. New car. Previously "Blown Away" and "The Shyster".
