And therein lies the problem Gary. When I bought this car, I promised the builders widow, (an old buddy that I hadn't seen in years), that I would keep the car unchanged. I'm a man of my word. For the most part the car will be run hoodless. But I want the option of running the hood on rare occasions. Right now the hood is sitting in my breezeway wrapped in a soft blanket.
Chadd: Those are pretty cl***y looking!! May be to nice for what I'm doing. I'll think through it and see which way to go. Thanks...Tim
I haven't put a hood on my '31 roadster yet as I've been busy with other things on it since I got it roadworthy. Have a 1 piece top from Brookville that I plan to install eventually. What would really be cool is a latch set similar to what Buick used back in the 50s so that you could open it from either side and the other side served as a hinge, with a central prop rod that would go to either side. When you unlatched on both sides you could simply pick p the hood and set it aside. Somehow I'm not too confident in my ability to design and build such a system.
55willys, I have a small drawer full of Dzus fasteners left over from an aircraft factory that closed down. it's the special plates that fasten to the cowling and radiator shell that I'm missing. I sent a message to the rod shop that ***embled the body for info. I'm waiting for a reply.
