Looks like they were made into tail lights but I agree they're cool...

They look very similar to our Holden FJ(1952-55) here in Australia. Maybe ours are a bit wider.

  6. You think that might be a Buick flipper with a red lens?

  7. Vincent, tail lights and rear lights would be the same thing in most of the time.

I think what scrap metal 48 meant was that they were made from some other light and not originally tail lights.

    Anyone got an idea?

  10. No idea but they are seriously cool. The bezel does look sort of Buick'ish.

Nope. The ears of the Buick flipper are flush with the center, and the lower edges slope upward. They would not lie flush against a body panel. Clever idea, though.

I think those shown in this link to the taillight king are the Buick wheel cover flippers and have been mistaken for light bezels. Note the upward curvature at the base of the flipper blades. The '55/'56 Buick wheel cover referenced has concave centers, hence the flipper blade upward curvature as noted by '50s Fraud in his post above. Also, the OP's photo shows the blades intersect the bezel well below the top of bezel, whereas on the Buick item, the blades are flush with top.

Although there's no size reference, the shape of those parts appears identical to my Buick hubcap flippers. Good catch.
