Guys, I have a friend in need of some assistance. His Dad has a 39 Ford Sedan with a 1950 vintage 303 Olds motor in it. (Legit late 50s hot rod) It has Thomas rockers and he's looking for adjuster screws for them. OR... a whole new set of shaft rockers. Any idea where a guy could get this stuff other than eBay or swap meets? At this point he's probably going to get a machinist to make him some, but he would rather buy a couple and go rather than wait for someone to make them. Any ideas? I did some searches and didn't find anything here and not much on Google either. Thanks in advance!
With my 371 Olds, I had to provide a means of adjusting the valve lash. Isky sold adjustable push rods, which worked well. Don't know if they still sell them, but you can try.
maybe I was misunderstanding him, but he was looking for some sort of 'screw' for them. I assumed it was an adjuster. I couldn't see where any other screw would be involved other than hold down?
Look up smith brothers push rods! Awesome service and prices. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
this is what he needs... he drew up specs to have some made. I appreciate the help so far. Any other ideas?
In a somewhat similar situation, I used standard Allen screws that I used a ball end end mill to round and radius out the hex end. Put flats on the other end. I guess a screwdriver slot would have been just as good. And used a nut to lock the screw in place when adjusting the valve. I didn't have an oil hole but you could cut one in yours.
