Great. I was thinking about adding:.... or is this the one? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Vintage Air in my 46 project. A bit tight for space in there but everything fits. I still need to add fuse box, wiper and ignition module. Even radio and speaker fits with dash in place. Very tight confines. Mounting bracket uses symmetrical handbrake bosses and firewall to support everything. Nothing in my 35 phaeton, a true fair weather car but wouldn't mind an old Harrison or art deco heater though for those cold days and nights.
It is an old HaDees. Not sure what it came out of originally, might have been farm or industrial add-on. It is 6 volt running on a resistor.
^^^Hadees was an aftermarket heater company. here's a bunch of heaters. Mopar, Ford Chevrolet and aftermarket
That's my Sears Allstate model, 2nd row from the bottom second unit in from the left. It does a great job, will defrost as well, originally 6v I replaced the motor with 12v.
Mine was the sort of model typically installed in the southwest factories: tiny and warm if it's needed, but about half useless if you live in the snow belt.
Around here stuff like heaters are known as ballast. They neither help your car go faster or look cooler. It's nice living in an area where they are not needed. One of the first things you unbolt and toss in the s**** pile.
If you live in an area where a heater isn't needed, you probably sweat your balls off. It's nice living in an area where a heater can come in handy.
Yeah the old HaDees works worth a hoot for sure. Was out in +12 weather this winter, comfy in the truck.
A very early Columbus 12v radio gutted and a small import heater core from the rear of a large SUV with fan installed. Most folk see it and think cool you have a period radio, Ha Ha. See the hoses down in the toe board. Sure hose are unsightly but we don't care. Works well in our old tin 32 3W.
Our long owned 37 ford coupe has a traditional tropic air heater shell with an import core and fan hidden inside , take the chill off a sub zero kiwi morning.
Our 54 Victoria has the best heater of all , you could nearly make a cup of coffee on a freezing winter morning . Original equipment fully rebuilt to look correct.[oh yes the dummy that rebuilt the car lost the original heater control panel so we improvised somewhat with the switch names. In the 3W, a Firestone aftermarket unit with bakelite knobs !! Grabbed it coz it reminded me of a Wurlitzer jukebox haha
The Tropic-Aire heater that came in my truck's cab. I even went so far as to build my own tube and fin heat exchanger from copper tubing and aluminum flashing material. Works pretty good. Blue
Here's a "Redhead" that I'd love to have completely chromed out for my coupe. And a "Fransisco" heater from the early 30's that will end up in the roadster. JohnnyA
Most optional equipment like heaters was dealer installed, and most people bought one of the aftermarket heaters instead of buying one from the dealer. Harrison was /is a subsidiary of GM. The same heaters they made with Chevrolet, Pontiac, etc name on them were sold as universal aftermarket units with the Harrison name on them. I have a Hot Wave brand heater in my truck. Attractive round art deco case, has defroster, puts out plenty of heat, often have to crack open the cowl vent to let in some cooler air.
Wow , that red head heater looks something like a front of a 40s movie theater ! Very cool ! (Or hot )
