I spent a lot of time analyzing that car over the years..
that car's the reason i love 32 Fords.
And i alway's liked the way the 40 crossmember looked in it, along with most other's that used that set up as well..

And Dooley's right on the money too :D..

I have posted the folowing under goofs for AG at imdb.com but heard nuthing . . .

After the scene when Laurie tries to beat up Falfa, and john and Steve stop her, the camera pans across the bottom of falfa Chevy next to the right frame rail (left side) you can clearly see what looks like a wrench.

not sure about the movie car..
But again, if i'm not mistaken, i think 32's had a WB of 106.5" in stock form..
I'd think it's close to that..

Now for 'the Stumper', did the '55 Chevy have a posi? What's your proof? You may have to go almost to the end of the movie to find out.

One of the things I've never quite understood about the end of AG is how after Falfa rolls his car and the race ends, Milner says to Toad, "I was losing!" But if you go back and look at the race footage, Milner is clearly ahead by at least a car length, more like two -- not at all close at that point. You can see it in the shot from the rear.

And Milner wasn't winning at that point due to Falfa wiping out -- Milner is obviously already way ahead when the black Chevy starts to get squirrelly.

Maybe Milner was hallucinating from being up all night?

Now, the thing I've always wondered -- hypothetically of course -- is just how insane the engine that 3200-lb '55 Chevy would have to be to beat Milner's 2500-lb (maybe less) coupe in a real race. There wasn't any such thing as a big-block Chevy yet, and it's unlikely Falfa would have been able to have scored a 409 yet. Biggest bored and stroked small-block was maybe in the high 300-ci range by '62. And Falfa's car doesn't sound supercharged.

What kind of period-correct mods would it have taken for Falfa to have feasibly beaten him? (assuming both cars are sorted out well and running right)

a couple of pics from the show in SF today.

    camera mount details?

  10. Milner was only baiting Toad. He knew he had Falfa beat. He just needed some ego boosting, some building up of his insecurities, a good ol pat on the back. Watch Milner start smiling after Toad tells him he's the best!

Falfa's car was supposed to be a 409 car.

I hope your info is correct. My info that the car was sitting is a year or more old. It would be cool to see it back on the road again maybe some day all the old cars would get togther for a reunion!!!!!

How cool man, i would of never guessed that this post would of been exhumed so many times.

My original thoughts on why Milner was saying to Toad that he was beat, was that he was tired of being number 1 and needed a way out so he could try new things and wouldnt have to prove himself all the time.

You remember him saying he didnt want to chase everyone around to race anymore, and when Falfa asked him where to race, Milner paused for a long while and finally said Paradise Road and turned away.

Now that can also be taken as Milner just acting calm, smooth and cool, as if Falfas threat was nothing to him. But if you study his facial features, it almost looks as if hes wanting to say, "Man, some other day..." but feels the pressure of needing to be known as the best in the valley and almost forced into the decision.

And when he takes off the pipes at the garage and his pal says something like, racing again Milner, he just looks up and says something like yea...

Milner sees all his buddies going off to college and stuff and hes stuck in town defending his #1 name. I think maybe he just wanted a way out(???)

What do you think of that theory?

I would agree with you on that one . Ive always thought that what he meant by his actions. Always seemed like he was tired of racing everyone.Being the top car in a small town can be a pain in the ass.

Kip is riding in a '58 Ford, the old man at the liquor store is in a '60 Impala and the cop car is a '60 (?) Ford.
