    Howdy fellow hotrodders,
I have a '34 Dodge p/u, that came originally with a straight 6 flathead(M.I.A.). I understand this motor came in many vehicles, all the way into the 60's. I'm currently trying to put a 225 slant 6, a 904 auto, and an 8 3/4 rearend into it, so it will be easier for my 76 yr old Dad to drive on occasion.
Does anyone have pictures of ANY vehicle that has the flathead L 6? Specifically the motor mount area?
It seems the drivers side 225 mount, lines up directly with the stock '34 Dodge steering box. I've considered building a U shaped mount that straddles the steering box, then mount the 225 to that. I've also considered trying to find a 225 slant 6 crossmember and scab that in, but I believe I'd run into the same problem.
I "think" I could build some mounts for the 225, IF I had some pictures of how the original 6 mounted.
Thanks for any ideas, or pictures!
(I tried to attach a few pics of my own, but they were too big.)

I have a 38 plymouth with a flathead 6 and a 50 plymouth suburban with a flathead 6 at my house now.. They both use front mounts not side mounts..They are well in front of the steering box.. I can get pics in the morning if still needed...EVILT

Kinda like A mounts? Hmmm. It would help if you could snap a pic or two, if it's not too much trouble.
    Thanks!

    That'd be great, thanks!

We're headed out for a while, so if I don't reply for a couple hours, I'm offline.

    Thanks again guys!

I have a 37 desoto and the only original engine mount appears to be at the front of the motor not sure how the slant six sits.

The slant mounts more like a V8 would, in that it has 2 opposing mounts bolted to either side of the block, approx 1/2 way from front to back.
Looks like I may have to go with the U shaped mount that straddles the steering box.

Yup, it's like an "A" motor mount. Centered in front. I don't have a pic of my Dodge, and can't get to it today to get you one.

FWIW, you can get a trans-adapter to fit the old Dodge flathead to modern auto trans. This would save having to fab mounts and a driveshaft, etc. Contact me if you need info.

  9. here's a pic of a front mount from a '48 Plymouth, it bolts to a flange just above the timing cover on the engine, and to the front crossmember. I don't have a clue what the '34 pickup mount looks like, but I bet it's similar

Heres a big block flathead going into a 48? Ply. I think all the front mounts were basically the same on the front over the years. The other pics are of some homemade slant 6 motor mounts.

The flathead pic is from Don C.'s website and its his car.

I already have the 225 rebuilt, so I'm pretty well set on making it fit. I got it for free, so you can't beat that. If I had the original motor, or one similar, I definately would have gone back with it.
    Thanks for the info!

WOW!! Those pics will help me a LOT! Thanks!
Ohhhh, that last 225 is TOO ***y. Mines gonna look like a polished turd compared to that one.
