Hi folks....thanks in advance for any leads! I'm trying to find books, forums and parts vendors to really broaden my knowledge of post-war Hudson's, specifically '48-'53. This is coming from the fact my wife LOVES Hudsons. I've known this for years. But 3 nights ago we're watching a show that's highlighting a '53 Hudson and she says "I want a Hudson". I push her on it, and she adamantly wants one in our family. For her to say that....well I'm just counting my blessings! But anyway, I'm a Ford guy. Before I even think about getting into a Hudson (which will likely be a few years out anyway), I want to do all the research I can. I know that I can start at Mac's or Dennis-Carpenter and get most any part I need for my '55 Fairlane. I know that I can post questions to the '52-'59 Ford social forum here on the HAMB and get help too. I have my shop manual and a Y-Block book at home, along with a whole list of other parts vendors and forums I can turn to. I don't have ANY of that for Hudson, so just trying to start building that. Thanks for any help!
Good to see another Hudson lover. A great book is Hudson 1946-1957 by Richard M. Langworth. Has all the details on stepdowns.Available at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Hudson-1946-1...d=1408765868&sr=1-1&keywords=hudson+1946-1957 Also if you need serial number info go here http://home.comcast.net/~sarahdyoung/hudsonserialnumbers.html#1948
But wait there's more. Bill Albrights Hudsons in Fontana CA. I visited Bill back in 2003 when I was in USA. Bill died a few years ago but looks like the business is still going. He had an amazing collection. http://www.albrightcars.com/index.htm
I've had a '48 Hudson for sale for ages right here in the same town. Not great but a reasonable start. There used to be a fairly dedicated Hudson forum on a general cl***ic cars site, but I can't find the link to it anymore.
Thanks Grahamsc for the lead on the HET. I remember seeing something about HET somewhere else and couldn't for the life of me think of what the ET part stood for! Now I know! I'll be heading over their next for some guidance on direction. And thanks Hudson48 for the links. Ironically enough I just requested that very same book from the library. So that should be getting to my local branch maybe on Monday and I'll pick'er up. Glad to know that it's a good one to start with. Yea, I'm almost surprised that there wasn't a Hudson social group here at the HAMB (well there is, but just pre-war I guess). Any other leads....keep'em coming!
I recently sold my '37 Terraplane and when I built it there were lots of parts like rubber trim and even decals available from a place in California called K-GAP. There are several Hudson clubs in Australia where the cars sold well when they were new because they were available in RHD.
No, not the AACA forums, I try never to waste much time on those guys. It was called Cl***ic Cars or something like that, though, and was a similar deal with forums for various makes of cars. It just so happened that was the most active Hudson board around.
Like I posted in thread 7, this is the forum that replaced the Cl***ic car/ Hudson forum. The Cl***ic car forum no longer exists. http://forum.hetclub.org/categories/hudson
I just looked at this too. It bubbled to te top and only had 11 replies. That said, Its been the requisite "few years". Is the wife Hudsoning?
Just Google hetclub. This is the official site for Hudson's. They have two forums. One for the official site and a Open forum. The Open forum is the old one that use to be one the cl***ic car site. Hope this helps. LHud
