700R4 Shifter Options

i'm getting ready to switch out the 5-speed for a 700R4 automatic and i was wondering what you guys use for a shifter? i want to install a tall homemade shift handle so the shifter can't have the push ****on. do they make such an animal? any suggestions? thanks, mike

Yes you can get the conversion where the shift knob pushes down , rather than a ****on. Just use a push bike brake cable outer as a detent pusher and cut to your desired length. Of scourge you will need to make your own length shifter but that's pretty easy with a heavy wall hollow stainless tube and grind a couple of slots in the top to locate the shift knob, for the up and down movement.
