hi all! I am trying to find a 4 barrel carb spacer with a vacuum port for my 58 fairlane 500 with the 332 fe engine. I am trying to convert to a pcv system as the road draft tube is missing and I really don't like that type system anyway. the carb is a motorcraft 4100. the only vacuum port on the manifold is for the power brake vacuum and I am not sure that it is a good idea to use it. i have been told that a 67-68 carb spacer will work but have not been able to locate one. thanks for any help that you can offer!! jim
I would look around at Jegs or Summit. The Jegs link is below. It looks like it fits a 4-BBL square flange. http://www.jegs.com/i/Mr-Gasket/720/6005/10002/-1
You might also consider this one as it includes Phenolic spacers to dissipate heat, solid aluminum will transfer heat,I also like the Swirl-Torque feature on a street machine: http://www.jegs.com/i/Trans-Dapt/969/2529/10002/-1?parentProductId=743865#moreDetails
Phenolic is really the best way to go. I used to machine them up for my stock cars. I have to see if I have any 1" stock laying around.
thanks for the replies! I have found a spacer thru summit (trans dapt trd2584) that appears to be what I need so I am going to order it and try! jim
ok-I received the trans dapt adapter and installed it and it worked great-got good pcv now. the holes on the adapter were slightly larger than the carb/intake venturies but the engine seems to run fine so I am going to run it and see how the engine performs. I do need to plug the road draft opening but am not sure what to use--rubber freeze plug? jim
