I have a 69' Galaxie 9" and looking to shorten for a 54 Ford Customline. Can these rears be shortened? Would then go with custom length Moser Axles/bearings.

I am not an expert on this subject, but here goes.. You are in the middle of PA. There shoud be a race shop near you that shortens rears on a regular basis. Take your parts and measurements to them. Sometimes your axles can be shortened. Sometimes you can use stock axles from another car. Sometimes your short axle will fit the longer side after shortening and you only have to buy one side.

If you go with an open mind and they are good at what they do they can make things work out.

I agree with @oldolds as far as having a local shop narrow it and possibly using the shorter axle on the other side.
I'd either buy the other one new from Moser or the pair.... probably the pair.

If you can narrow the housing, Currie sells axles that have extra long splines that you can cut them to the exact length yourself, they are about $400 a pair.
