I was blown away a couple of nights ago when I was browsing through some of my thousands of hot rod and lakes pics from late 1930's to early 1950's. It's really a spooky thing to me, but you guys might have some info on the certain car in the pic. And that would be of great interest to me. When I built my new dry lake roadster I chose a start number out of nowhere. For me it was only a matter of aesthetics and the numbers 52 is a good looking number. I didn't know of any car using this and I really didn't care either. It was a number that could have existed and that was fine with me. This blue car also runs a 1932 ch***is with a 1928/29 body, full hood and a 1932 grille. Just like me. And I never even looked at that car before tonight when I just happened to see it in the background. I think this pic is from 1947-48. My car. 1928 body, 1932 grille, 1932 ch***is. All Henry. Since I run a quickchange in rear, my period dating is around 1949-50 for the build.
Well done and I really like the fact that your car has the whole period correct race car look and isn't just another model A with a number painted on the side like the "cool guys: have. The fact that there was a similar roadster with 52 C on the side back then really makes it work.
Fellas, take note; this car was built in a land where vintage parts are REALLY tough to come by. This little roadster makes no excuses - she's no mail order bride, catalog queen, or paint by numbers project; just a good solid traditional hot rod. Great job, my friend!
Thanks! Ha ha... Maybe reincarnation works after all... Thanks, man! Thank you kindly! Hey! You make me blush! A couple of more pics. 1934 taillight, 1940 Mercury rear axle and brakes with a quickchange mid section, 1940 Mercury steering wheel 296" 59AB stroker w. -39 gearbox and original Zephyr gears
Thanks, guys! Still nobody that have any clue about the blue car? It seems to be in company with the red 48 C behind it. The red cars hood looks like its under the front end of the 52 C.
Isn't the 365 car, a a racer of note.....the bomb or bug or similar sounding name ? May be a good clue to track when that car was evident......google has failed me on that so far. Nice roadster.....then, and now....of course.
Hey J.B. I just noticed this thread. The pic is from '48 as Marvin Lee streamliner (no lakester cl*** until '49) was in bare aluminium for '48. But to the roadster in question, according to July '48 SCTA program 52c was Frank Beagle of the Strokers. Frank roadster ran a 267ci '42 Merc, Navarro heads, Edelbrock intake, Smith cam, Potvin ignition. Speed at July meet 130.05mph.
