Sooo my 6" drop axle came in and I promptly took some springs out to drop it even more.

    Soon after I realized I had a real problem..what the ****??!

Of course nobody is around to ask questions of and I am not even sure the tires will clear but you think for one second that's gonna slow me down?... Eh eh. I kinda felt like 6" was too much drop anyway so I'm gonna make this ****ing think work anyway. I kinda hung the spindles and "eyeballed" it with a tire and I "think" it will work. Man it ****s when you have never done a certain task and its just up to you to figure it out. I had a feeling this was going to happen.

Exactly my thought buddy! I mean all the parts are awesome but this is wacky as can be. This is a very common car and this company does a ton of them so what gives ??! Color me confused but if the tires will clear ok I can make it work. Be a little over a 3" drop axle when I'm done.

So is the plan to take a few inches out of the rise on the axle?

No, it's just an off the shelf piece Tim but I'm going to use it because 6" drop is just too much and I think after I modify this one it will be just right..I hope!

I think I get what you're saying Bean:
The brackets are staggered, but somewhere along the manufacturing chain somebody messed up their "guzintuz",and didn't carry the 1,and one side of each bracket ended up just a little shy of what was required,so you're going to lengthen them on the inside to make up the difference, correct?
If that's the case, even with the extra long bracket on one side,I think the axle should be plenty strong,as the outer side runs across the diagonal dropped portion. This should stiffen things up big time, and prevent any torsional movement and twisting monkey business that would make for...ummm....."Handling Awkwardness" :D

If you tackle this like everything else,it should end up being one of those moments where a couple hundred guys following this thread slap their palm to their forehead and say out loud: "DAMN!Why didn't I think of that!" :)

Looking forward to see that Ol ****** stand on its own feet.Keep us posted!:)

    Ps:
Check out Gord Downie with the Sadies playing "Crater"......caught that show live last night at a real small local venue with about a hundred other derelicts and it was one for the books!:)

(I know you're a connoisseur of finer tunes,so I had to p*** this one along.....Gord is a Canadian icon, and the Sadies are like Buck Owens on coke, driving a bulldozer over your face.Very pleasing combo.)

That's exactly what I'm planning on doing Scott. I kinda thought it might stiffen it up a bit too so we are on the same sheet of music there. I really am just stumbling around over here because much of this is new to me. I think I'm going to get real lucky on the front height because it was gonna be way too low as it was. It should come in around 14 to 14 1/2 at the front rocker.

Peter Green is one of my all time faves DJ!!!!! :D

Jumping at Shadows is SO Damn powerful.........The lyrics in that song are pretty revealing.Apparently he was battling demons WAY before anyone realized anything was going on.It was years before he checked himself into a mental hospital, but when you listen to the lyrics, you would think he was on his way there when he wrote it.

Lets see some more of those fabrication pics Brother!!! :D

    Any more progress....?

You are putting me to shame man.Youre building an entire car in the time it's taking me to just make a couple of updates...!:)

Today I did get a couple connecting rod beams polished though....in between garage renovations and helping my Dad with Model A stuff....

Maybe the beer is the key to success?

I never could be productive when I had any of it around, but you seem to get a pile of work done if you have a couple of motivational barleypops along the way...!:)

I'm headed out to the shop right now padna! Never under estimate the almighty power of beer.......it's God's way of saying he loves us you know??! :) I think the key for me is that (believe this or not) I normally don't drink more than 1 or 2 when I'm working. Plenty of times I force myself to work on the car when I'm tired/unmotivated and a cold beer just takes the edge off and keeps it fun. I haven't had more than a slight buzz in YEARS.....truth...,Well maybe a strong buzz. My videos are kinda my redneck version of Foster Brooks, BUT I can't pull it off without a couple of beers.
