How many of you Hambers made it out to the show and what did you think about it. I think I can't wait till Detriot.
It was kinda lame as usual but better then last year. I still think I got a few good shots from it though. Is it time to go to Detroit yet?
I know Mongo and I were not the only ones that went. I thought there were a few nice rides there but I know there will be a ton in Detroit. Lucids ford was sweet.
Yeah Gus you should have made it! Dave's place is pretty cool, tons of stuff everywhere and a very cool project in the works! Going there made the day. The show was pretty good, course Matt liked the bridal show next door .
I had an AWESOME time! Yes, the show was alittle smaller then what we're use to in Detroit BUT that can change if more folks start taking their cars there. Now that AutoramaBob is in charge I do expect it to grow, especially in the traditional catagories. He can't do it by himself though. He does need the cars there that "we" want to see. I'd like to thank AutoramaBob for comp-ing us our entrance fee. Thanks bud, much apprecaited. It was great to see you again and meet your lovely wife. Please let her know that if there is anything I can do to help, either before hand or during the Detroit show, to just let me know. I'd be happy to help out. We had a fun drive out from Detroit. It was nice to be able to spend the time getting to know both Aaron and Greg better. The drive was half the fun. Matt treated us to the most current photos of the little roadster his shop is building. Really looking forward to see it live and in person in March. Once at the show we hooked up with CharlieChops1940 one of the best huggers ever. It was nice to see OhioBlueTip up and walking around after his surgery. Also ran into PhatRat, one of my Ego-Rama competitors and Jusjunk and his lovely wife Sue. Found the "traditional" section of hot rod without too much trouble and it wasn't long before we got to chat with Jake, who had his awesome looking truck there and Sean who had is great shoebox. A bunch of us then went to lunch at a pub within walking distance. Thanks for suggesting the place Dave. It was yummy. Once back at the show the pinstripers were in action. Got a great hug from Deabeat Jeff, I forget what his HAMB name is. Also got to say hello to MikeO and his lovely wife. Met Fritz for the first time who brought his bubbletop from NY for the crowds pleasure. The icing on the cake........getting to meet Dave, the builer of the Mysterion clone, and getting invited back to his place to check out his newest bubbletop creation. What a treat! Thanks Dave, not only for showing us around your collections, but for explaining the process of the build. Very interesting indeed. I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress of this build throughout the summer. All in all a perfect way to spend a cold Michigan winter Saturday.
it sure was a long weekend but we all had a good time. it great to finally meet some of you. everything went great until my wife and i got like 4 blocks from home and the shoebox decided that she didn't want anymore headlights or taillights right in front of a cop. yeah that was awsome!! but we nursed her home and today starts the 12v conversion. i have had enough of the 6v nonsense. sorry for the rant. hopefully my wife and i will make detroit to hang out a little longer with you all.
Maybe Charlie Chops will post before pics of it. He sold it chopped and unfinished a few years ago. Denny (owner) unchopped it and finished it out. He did a beautiful job of it.
I had a great time , my wife even said it could have went a couple more days Met Fritz and Dave there and couldnt believe how much fun they were ,Thanks guys. The show was ALOT better than last year and so was the panel jam ,so I would like to thank all of the promoters for that . Ive got lots of pics so I'll post a few of my favorites. Some art from Fritz, Dave and Jeff Shea also one of the most exciting things to happen to my wife all weekend
Dude,,,,Dave is going to kill you. I don't know if he would want that on the HAMB not yet at least. See you in Detroit
Here are a couple of Yosemite Sam and some of his work from the weekend . Thanks to Sam we have a pinstripers jam at Detroit and Grand Rapids
Nice seeing everyone. Sorry we didn't make lunch. I knew OBT would be tired our after walking the show. He just got the cast off his foot Friday from surgery in early December. We stopped and got a burger and a beer on the way home. I didn't get a shot of the Nomad. It was mine for 20 years and never finished until Denny bought it. The '61 Belair post right behind it in the show was a car I did finish in about '92 and sold it not long after the Nomad to help finance the '32 roadster I'm gonna start on soon. Gots a big pile of parts waiting. Charlie
I would like to give a huge thanks to all the stripers that give there time so unselfishly to raise money for the PanleJamb. I'm totally blown away at the artwork you guys put out with all the people around. And a big DBF to Jeff Shea.... the Toilet seat and clock rule dude. Mike O, Dave, Fritz,Sam and all the ones I can't remember the names of, Thanks so much you guys RULE
That Nomad is my father's ride. I was with him when he picked it up from charlie chops. I think he did some awesome things with that car.
I'm new to this so hopefully the pictures will turn out. I'm partial to Model A Ford coupes, guess you can tell by the pictures. There were some nice cars there, some have already been posted.
The show ROCKED like it never has before. We had a fine selection of Trad Rods and if there ever was a show with something for everyone, this was it. Yeah, it is not the biggest and it is no Detroit (Nothing is!) but all in all it was a complete turnaround for a show that was lacking in the past. A HUGE Thanks to all the stripers who participated in the Panel Jam and especially Yosemite Sam Radoff. Most of you have no idea how hard this guy works to promote this segment of the art world...a million Thanks for your tireless efforts! BTW; where the hell was he when we wanted to recognize him at the awards presentation? Thanks to Mike O and your lovely wife too; she's a real sweety and a real talent. If it wasn't for the fact that I knew the wastebasket was going to bid high, I would have kept on going on the toolbox she painted! Thanks to Fritz and Dave for lightening my wallet, and like I said, even though I had the highest bid at $330, I feel like I stole that baby! It was great to see Denise, Roadstar and nice meeting you other Hambers "in person"...glad you had fun at the show. Our new chairman, Mark "Bullet" Black did a hell of a job and this show will continue to get better and better. Help us by bringing YOUR car, bike or brush and paint next year! NOW...back to work on Detroit and Chicago and Baltimore and Dallas and....
