Any input will help if you've run a similar setup

wow , instant headache, so many variables.......... Id suggest a trip to a local Dyno who knows Webbers. Drilling Webber jets seems odd as there are so many jets made for them Ive never heard of a need to drill. To give some idea of the job ahead you need to say what jets are in every carb (main and air bleed), check what venturi's are in each carb, accelerator pump jets (2 per carb) idle jets......

Not really instant headache but it's annoying at idle the pops and snaps that I can hear as for the progression holes ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1409699052.848339.jpg instead of having two holes as the ****erflies open up I have three makes them more street able not the jets. under load there is a huge amount of power and go squirrelly all day I'm not sure if maybe I need higher octane I'm running 91 and I'm trying to trouble shoot as much before I goto the dyno so it will be cheaper

What cam do you have I understand the cam needs to be picked for the carbs.

This is what was given to me I did not verify I only popped the pan and the heads off to verify it was a 383 so I am ***uming this is what is in it I have the original build sheet which has an isky cam on it with almost the same specs only according to my weber book and the information I've read online I should be at the bottom end of acceptable cams which is 109 to 114 deg lobe separation

Find a local Weber Expert and let him try. Those things are a PIA till they work. I have 1 on my off topic MGB and nobody could get it to work until I found someone that understood Webers. Still has it's issues at certain RPM ranges. A day of tuning on dyno will help.

  10. A cam with more lobe separation would be better.... 110 is borderline, 112 0r 114 would help. And when you say the carbs are 'synced', is this a mechanical sync or a vacuum sync? A mechanical sync won't do, any individual runner intake system must be vacuum synced for good results. These also like a lot of timing (38 total), less will cause issues...

Va*** synced and yah I'm advanced to 38 already and yah I agree with the better lobe it's almost like a backfire through the carbs kinda sound but it is not it's only when it's doing it's stumbling at 800 Rpms idle it could be just my lobe and I am leaning towards that or a va*** leak on the carbs themselves maybe I am running only 2 psi of fuel but it works really good at 1500-6500 rpm range and responds really good I'm being picky as this is the first time running this setup I have tuned and ran triple strombergs on a flathead before

As for the drilling of the third progression holes it is talked about a lot in the cobra guy forums they came like that when I bought them I didn't have it done I just treated it like bonus for the mod already being done I have contacted many weber experts and emailed many weber companies that deal and the responses I usually get is send my manifold in with my engine specs and they will rebuild and jet them for a fee or bring my car and they will dyno tune maybe webers are suppose to sound like this the best discription I can give would pulling a suction cup off a window noise

What size chokes do you have, 37mm or 40mm? Or bigger?

What do the spark plugs look like?
Sounds like you could try a different cam timing.

  18. Choke size matters go to the smaller choke size and match up the air meters that control the fuel mixtures.

Purchase a special air/fuel gage called "Colortune" to dial in the meters as well as the final fuel mixture.

    Good luck!

Figured it out air fuel mixture was out was talking to a guy on a cobra forum and he helped me out we are good to go lol I just had to lean out more I wasn't leaning out enough and was having too much gas not burning off creating a suction and with all the individual runners made it really noticeable
