Hope someone can answer...1950 Ford 2 dr ( car ) I need to replace the door hinges. I work alone in the country and I was thinking I could support the door with floor jack and replace one at a time? The hinges have been off before and the bolts are seem free. You guys think I can without removing the door complete? Thanks in Advance
I replaced mine-alone-one at a time-on a 49 Convertible. Biggest issue is usually getting the bolts loose-if yours are free go for it !! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
You might want to make (or buy) a door support saddle for your floor jack so the door doesn't move around while you're replacing the hinge.
Can you support the door from above with a ratchet load tie down? I had to drill my screws out as no amount of cuss words ,heat or invented tool would help. Now fitted with countersunk cap screws, have taken them off myself now but it's waaaay easier with a helper.
Thanks to all Think I will use the jack/wood homemade saddle/ then use a tie down as insurance! After I tape all the exposed edges just in case.
