Yeah I searched but all I got was confused.

Will 53-56 F-100 rear brakes bolt up to a 47 pickup open drive banjo rear axle?
Will F1 rear brakes bolt up?
Or do I have to keep the original non-Bendix brakes?

easier if you use lincoln or F2 then you can use the stock drum and hub. you can use the F1 or F100 along with the drop in axles but a fair amount of machine work is required.

im sure you could machine the stock hub to work with an 11" drum.

bolting on the backing plate is the easy part

So Lincoln and F2 are Bendix type brakes that bolt right up to a 47 pickup rear axle? What Lincoln brakes are we talking about? And also, what exactly does "drop in axle" mean?

I'm building a gow job looking 27 roadster that will see lots of miles, so it's getting an Iron Duke, a 350th (so the wife can drive), self energizing brakes and the way too expensive 3 x 21 aluminum disc wheels from Antique T Motorsports. The front axle has Bendix brakes, just trying to figure out how to get them on the rear - BUT do I really need them since the 47 pu rear axle has the stock brakes and the fronts do most the braking?

Since I need to drill and re-stud (with really long studs) to match the 6 x 5" wheel pattern in addition to modifying the wheel center holes, I'll be visiting a machine shop anyway. When you say a "fair amount of machine work is required" to mate F1 or F100 brakes to the 47 axle, what exactly is involved.?

Please keep in mind I'd don't know squat about some of this stuff, just trying to figure out the cheapest method.

If you got bendix on the front the stock 47 pu brakes are fine. Majority of brake is done by the front axle.
Early 39 to 48 rear linclon will give you a parking brake. Bolt pattern is the same on the backing plate. Last ones I did were used with buick drums. I also set one up with both buick drums and buick brakes front and rear. Drop in axles would require bearing pockets and the carrier being machined. Its the axles out of the rear the f1 rear brakes are off of.
Alot of added work and your not really gaining anything other then bragging rights.

Thanks Skidmark, I'll go with the stock brakes, no use wasting time doing unnecessary shit. And I sure don't care about bragging rights!
