Hi All, I have just had a visor shipped over to the UK for the '53 Buick and I was wondering, has anyone out there got a '53 style body with one fitted? How far away from the windshield does the bracket mount? Someone fitted a radio antenna right where it mounts so I have to weld up the hole and fettle things together but just so I can get an idea. Cheers, Spence
The antenna is right where it should be, where the factory put it. The advantage was that you could adjust it while driving without ever reaching your hand out of the car. A friend of mine with a '50 and a visor on it has a "U" shaped bracket that fits around the antenna and mounts at one spot on the visor and on both sides of the antenna. Happy wrenching!
that antenna in the middle of the front of the roof is the factory location. my fathers 53 riviara has it in the same spot, and i have seen them on alot of other cars there too.
Yep, antenna's in the right place. There should be a know inside the car in the same place so you can rotate the antenna around for the best reception.
these things get weirder! lol I will see what i can do but seeing the roof will be flaked then it needs to be rubbed right back as far as possible so it will have to be stripped. Anyone got a pic of a 53 buick special 2dr with a Visor? Cheers, spence
