Customs Rusty exhaust manifold gaskets. How do I stop this?

Ok- so the intake is powder coated, the block is painted, the exhaust manifolds are HPC coated. I am using stainless hardware for brackets, mounts, etc. Should be very little maintenance to keep everything looking nice and shiny. WRONG!!! I put the engine in the chassis and started to work on other areas of the car. In just a few short weeks the exhaust manifold gaskets rusted up. No big deal- but it sticks out like a sore thumb in comparison to the rest of the engine. I guess I could trim them to be slightly smaller than the manifolds and not stick out. Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

Use RTV. Mask off the areas where it doesn't belong.

Use RTV on the gaskets, or use RTV in place of the gaskets? I would love to do that but I did not think it would handle the heat.

Just trying to stop the surface rust- purely cosmetic.

    Thanks!

  5. The title says exhaust manifold and then you say intake gasket. Is it both or just exhaust? If just exhaust gasket I wouldn't use the gaskets.

I just parked my '60 Falcon. It has been together for about a year, with no leaks. Only Ultra Copper between the manifold and head.

I have long lost track of how many customers....

Or use composition header gaskets. They don't have any metal in them.

Do you put it on and let it dry? As suggested.

Apparently each one of those is different one says let it dry first and one says use wet.

Wet, and allow to cure overnight.

I use GRAFOIL which has an inner layer of stainless steel. Here's a link to a similar product.

A light coating of anti-seize on one or both sides allows multiple dis-assemblies.
