Shane w/ the Geargoyles CC here. Is it possible for us to come down on Friday and camp?
It's a 4 1/2 hour haul, so would like to get there early. If not, its cool. We can go high cl*** and use a hotel if needed.

ive done it several times, Friday night is test and tune $25 dollars, spectator $10, mr. ed has no problem with camping, if you want elec you have to pay, I asked ed several years ago on staying overnight because my drive is 5 1/2 hrs, he said no problem, matter of fact I did that last weekend, fri. nite, sat. nite, drove home sun. morning......you wont meet any finer people than ed and mrs dorothy

Shane, here's a link to track web site: http://silverdollarraceway.com/
Since it's so late in the season on 11/8/14, it might be a good idea to contact track to make sure they'll be there on Fri. 11/7/14. There is contact info there. you've got plenty of time to do it by email and find out. If they are open that Fri. I'm sure there'll be a way to camp, and you can spectate, or even race.

The schedule posted on the SD site doesn't show anything for 11/7/14, but5 I don't know if that means they ain't running on Fri. or not. Better check with them via email or phone on this.

Was a time when an old fat man in a 17 sec car could claim a trophy.

How is this going to affect, our event? Does this mean, we won't get much track time? Or will we be cut off, from grudge racing. Will we only be allowed, to make p***es, when they can work us in? Or will they just shut us off, after a certain time? just curious how all this is going to play out. Because it sounds like the main event, is the reunion. And with all they have planned, per the schedule. It does not look like, there will be much time left over for us. Because if they start time trials at 1:00 & racing at 4:00. Plus hula hoop and foot racing. when is our turn? Not *****ing. Just looking for some clarification.

As I've said previously, we've never had a day when there weren't other folks there doing something.
But I've also never seen it where any of the hot rods disddn't get in all the runs they wanted. We just haven't, at least in the past had enough of a turnout of hot rods to be the whole show for a day. Maybe someday we'll get it built up to that point.

We will get to run at will Bad A. There are 6 staging lanes and we will get to run as much as you want from 1 pm until at least 5ish, then we do our modest award ceremony and after that I usually grill some brats or whatever.

Fun, fun, fun! It's hard to tell which is the most fun for me. Whether it be the racing, the bench racing afterwards or the festivities and catching up with old friends after everyone goes home that isn't staying the night.

    Sorry Dave
I was making this post at the same time you were posting. I will trust your judgment, on this. You can just discard this post. But I will leave it up, so you can see, what I was afraid of.

OLD FASHION FOOT RACE TO THE 1/8TH MILE - $50.00 WINNER
STARTING LINE HULA HOOP CONTEST - $25.00 WINNER
BOBBY BOYD & JERRY BARKER - ROAST TO BE HELD (will be hilarious)
THE "RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG" STREET CAR GROUP WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THE EVENT MAKING TIME TRIALS BUT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN WRD REUNION ELIMINATIONS.

    Dave.
Here is the part that has me a little concerned. As listed above.

1- 1/8th mile foot race. That will eat up some time. this should be done on the side, not on the track, where it will stop the racing.. That way whoever wants to watch or participate, can do so without affecting the racing.

2- Starting line hula hoop contest. This also should be on the side also, so it will not stop the racing. That way whoever wants to watch or participate, can do so without affecting the racing.

3- Hopefully the roast, will be after all the events & racing are over. That way the ones of us who, would like to leave after the racing. Will not need to set through all that.

4- Now for the biggest. This makes it seem like, we are just an after thought, like we will just be in the way, and like we will just get worked in whenever, they can find the time.
THE "RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG" STREET CAR GROUP WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THE EVENT
MAKING TIME TRIALS BUT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN WRD REUNION ELIMINATIONS.

I am coming to grudge race, bench race. And have a good time. And not really interested in, a roast, foot race, or hula hoop contest. Just my opinion. And as I said, not meaning to sound like I am complaining. Just expressing my concerns.

    1, 2 & 3 Amen to you sentiments

4 This was posted by them prior to me contacting them and explaining who I am and what we are all about and that this is our 9th annual event. Everything is good, we will share the track and if you have no mechanical issues that prevents you from running, then you can run all you want. If everyone is in the staging lanes at once then naturally there will be a slight delay in the normal "hot lap" scenario.

Also per their agenda, they will leave the Warner Robins Dragway site at 11:15 am with a police ******. That tells me that a 30 min cruise is going to be slowed way down to about the pace of a funeral procession. Therefore turning it into about an hour drive. Now the Silver Dollar Raceway is going to open at 10 am and tech will probably open around 11 am. That means if you are ready for tech when they open, we will be racing at 1 pm and they will still be in tech while we begin the "atmosphere" of the event ;)

If I can make it, traveling Friday will probably make the trip easier. Keep the Friday camping info up to date on here. At the track or offsite.

I still don't know how BGII is gonna react to slicks on her ****, but if she behaves, I'll be looking to get added to that list!
I('ve got a call in to Ed's voice mail to ask him about Fri. night for those that want to come early. Also plan to ask him to change that write up from "Run What You Brung Street Car Group" to "Run What You Brung Hot Rods"!!!!!!!!!

News Flash!!!!!!! Ed Swearingen just returned my call, and you guys that want to camp Fri. night can do so whether there is any racing or not that Fri. night. The gate will be open, just come on in. If there is an event rained out between now and then, and rescheduled to run that night, Fri. 11/7/14, then you can pay $10 to spectate and camp. But if there's no event scheduled for that night, just go on in and camp, and we'll see you in the am.
Maybe Scot (GAOldsman) can repost that aerial photo of the track ground with the ares marked where we usually hang out and camp, so you can set up near where we'll be camping, as that's where we set up the big communal grill, the campfire circle, and where Ed is going to plce a Porta John.

Speedy I'll try and remember to bring a thick book to put in my britches, so the whoopin' won't hurt as much :D ;)

I spoke to Russ aka Laydrag aka Cabbage this morning about the Geargoyles and I believe he has contacted Todd in reference to camping that Fri and rolling down with the SFCC.

I will try to do just that for you Dave with the aerial photo. Give me a few...
