Just getting this truck together and on the road. I recored the radiator, put in a new tstat and ran water backwards through system. Drive the truck a few miles through town and it seemed too hot under hood when I got home. No overflow but I think either tstat is faulty or maybe water pump isn't working. A: When I installed all new parts I could only get about 3 gallons of liquid in system, about a gallon shy of 17 qt. capacity. B: upper rad hose is hot as Hell, lower is cold. Anybody?
No spring in the lower hose. The one a removed did have one however. I could just fire it up and watch the lower hose to see if it collapses huh? To check for thermostat functioning while it's installed can i just drain coolant level below water outlet and see if coolant is moving after it warms up?
Sorry I forgot about this thread. Did you get your problem solved? It needs to have the spring if it doesn't.
