I had refurbished my p***enger side vent window and when I went to install it, I had my brain turned off and managed to break the regular door window gl*** (not the vent window).

Fortunately I already have a spare window gl***, but the old one appears to be adhered to a metal bracket that attaches to the regulator. Is there any way to swap that metal "window channel" to my new gl***? Or do I need to get a new one? What should I use to adhere the gl*** to the window channel? Thanks guys.

A block of hardwood and a hammer will knock the metal channel off. You will need a rubber hammer and a new piece of channel setting tape to put it back on.

Do I need to heat it up first? seems like the tape is holding the gl*** pretty tightly. Thanks

I've read up on it and one tip is to place the tape into the channel first, wet it with soapy water and install the gl***. The fit between the channel and gl*** is already pretty tight. But I'm getting all my door and vent windows together for a gl*** shop to do it.

    I've never heated it up.

It's always best to lay the gl*** on a carpeted surface and use a piece of thin cardboard laying on the surface of the gl***.

A piece of wood,2x2 /2x4 and a rubber mallet and a extra set of hands helps.

Just start on one end and work back and forth until it comes loose.

Setting tape is best, black automotive adhesive will work. HRP

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. It's hard to find solid info about this stuff. Is gl*** setting tape available at auto parts stores? Or maybe hardware stores? I googled it and found some places that sell it online but I think it would take a while to ship.

I did my drivers side door gl*** a few months back. The old gl*** was held in with adhesive. Had to shatter the gl*** and clean out the gl*** lift channel. When I installed the new gl*** I used gl*** setting tape that I picked up at an auto and home gl*** shop near me. Straight forward job that can be done on a weekend morning.
