it was nice to meet you and your son in Topeka. I truly respect your commitment to a period correct build. Your car is performing exceptionally well considering the ancient technology you are using.

I hope today goes well and that one of your quicker competitors has to drop out.

Always wanted to build a Chevy II. That car would have been a cherry in Mi.

Saw it do a 9.96 this morning on the live feed on the hotrod blog. I guess the ignition issue got sorted out.

  6. That's awesome that it broke into the nines with "outdated" parts. Very impressive!

thanks! it's been a blast. The run this morning was just so much fun, I could tell it pulled the wheels off the ground, and the tires were straining to hold on. Weather was killer, the DA early in the day was negative, I think it was around 200 feet when I ran.

Great holeshot you put on him. Was it tirespin or what but the 1-2 shift sounded like it was "laging" a long time but the 2-3 sounded fine

9.96 huh? So those "problems" were just to throw off the competition? :)

I've enjoyed following your build from the git-go and your performance through dragweek. Other than just general re-tuning, was there any single compelling factor that gave you the big improvement in e.t. at the end of the event? Congrats on a great performance.

The car ran 10.25 Monday at Tulsa, it was pretty warm out. By thursday at Great Bend it was running rough, I only ran a 10.70. Friday morning we did some work on it, nothing major. Filed the points, checked the gap, lubed the advance mechanism. fresh plugs, and set the timing. I also raised the fuel pressure from around 3.5 to around 5.5 psi. I had put the fuel pressure gauge on it Thursday after leaving the track. The gauge is ugly, so I don't like to have it on the car. I also played with the fuel, I had been running 110 leaded mixed with pump gas, so I went back to the same thing I used on monday, 104 unleaded mixed with pump gas. And the weather Saturday morning, as well as the track surface was phenomenal.. cold, dry, sticky. I made one other "full" pass Saturday afternoon, it ran 10.11 all out in warmer weather.
