Motor in the unibody is pretty weak. Looking at options of rebuilding it vs a crate. Havent really gotten any good machine shop recomendations in the Denver area. Came across BluePrint engines, they supply crates for Speedway, Jegs and Summit, so I figure they cant be that bad. http://blueprintengines.com/ is their page. I'm specifically looking at the 347/aluminum head base setup to put my intake and such on. Anyone running one of their motors and have any feedback on them? Good or bad I'd like to hear it
I know two guys named Scott who work there....they are good guys, and they both work there because they like the company. I haven't bought an engine, but that's because I'm a cheapskate. If I were in the market, they are where I'd start.
Two thumbs up for their 383 TBI engine. Two years and 31,000 miles in a big *** 90 2wd Suburban. Pull trailers, 4 trips from Dallas to Atlanta to Dallas again, and daily drive it. Very happy. Would love to see a review of their Ford engines.
Very encouraging. On their site they have some good reviews, and even left up one not so good review, but it seemed like thy took care of the customer's issue. The 347 is so close to the price of a rebuild I'm 99% sure I'll go that way, just have to get the funding saved up and rebuild my trans
A local guy put one of their 347's in his 64 Fairlane. It developed a knock and they sent him another one. So far everything is good.
I've heard a few guys at a show, say they loved theirs. Personally, I prefer going to a local, good friend, for my engine work. His dads been doing engines for close to 40 years and he has followed in his dads foot steps. If I have a problem, and so far no one he's done work for has complained, it's a quick trip to his shop to have it resolved. You're taking the right approach. Do your research and make a logical and good financial decision.
I don't have one but have heard good feedback on them. Anyone that had even the smallest issue they made right. If I go the crate motor route on my next build it will be from them. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Gearhead Graphics, Thank you for your interest in BluePrint Engines! If you have any specific questions about any of our engines please shoot me a PM or post your questions right here and I will be happy to help. Thanks, Andrew Obermeier BluePrint Engines Product Spe******t
Andrew, I've emailed with you (or someone there) a few times in the last couple of weeks. Right now, after all your solid feedback and fast replies, and the majority of good reviews online, and you stepping up to the not so good ones. Its only a matter of getting the cash together before I order the 347 from you. Your email line has addressed all my concerns about the motor working with my EFI system (shhhh, nobody on here knows about that part). Between you and my comupter dyno guy we have covered all of those bases. Even coole, I'm a Nebraska kid and happy to support a hometown (or near it) business
Gearhead, I am really happy to hear that we have been able to answer the questions that you had for us, if anything else comes up please feel free to ask. Also it's always great to talk to another Cornhusker! Andrew
You should check out vortecproperformance.com. He's based in the Denver area and has an exceptional reputation for meticulous engine builds. He's gotten quite the following through OT forums like teamchevelle.com and teamcamaro.com, and he's affordable and guarantees everything. Recently seen one of his engines in a OT '67 Camaro at a local show, very nice work!. (sorry, you were looking for a Ford engine, not sure if he does those, my bad.)
