Can any one tell me if it is possible to swap the port injected '95 Ford 5.0 intake with a carburatored intake ? Pulled it from my truck because it had a knock, and I'll rebuild it and use it in my '29 A if I can get away from using F.I.. Thanx!
When I got my Fairlane the previous owner had swapped to a 5.0 Mustang injection unit on the original 289 with an early non feedback computer adaptation and electric fuel pump mounted in the fuel line laying in the trunk. Going back to an aluminum intake, four barrel carburetor, and point type distributor and also plan to do so with the 88 5.0 destined for the 26 T that I pulled from a Mercury Marquis.
Yes, any 289/302 intake manifold will fit the fuel injected motors, heads are the same. If it's an AOD trans you will need a special bracket for the trans cable
Thats awsome! Now I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a 3x2 intake that will vintage-ize the the look of the beast?!
yes it is possible i have done it in a couple cars of mine , as stated above if you are running the aod behind it make sure to get a bracket to hook up th tv cable from the trans to the carb and get it adjusted properly or it will ruin the trans, tri power and dual quads are both available but are pretty pricey, check out blue thunders website if you are lookind for an original type over the parts counter setup tri power !
Search on here, there's a guy in australia making a 3X2 adapter that bolts onto the fuel injection manifold
there is also a guy in this neck of the woods doing the same, he is a hamber but dont know how often he comes on. Uses the lower efi manifold, seals the injector holes and makes an aluminum adapter
Yah man with the upper portion of the intake off it looks entirely possible to fab some type of top end to accept 3 two's. But I do not own the tools or skills to be able to make one at this time. I know so little about these engines to begin with but if I can get r done it would be cool!
I made up a faux tri-power for my tub using three Rochester 2GCs (turned backwards to clear the front-mounted distributor), a stock 2V intake, and a 3/8" adaptor plate. Used dummy fuel lines n linkage. Fools most people. Cost me $23 plus a little Bridgeport time. Of course only the middle 2V is functional, but in a 1700 lb car I can still get into plenty of trouble with it.
Anyone know if I can use a set of GT40p heads with an older carb manifold? BTW it's an 85 flat tappet motor.
You can use GT40P heads on a flat tappet motor, but make sure you carefully measure for pushrod length.
This was a fuel injected 302-- with the ram horn off and a custom block-off plate/intake a machinest buddy of mine made for me.Running two single barrel Holleys(mounted sideways) that were from slant six Plymouths. It got a few double-takes! AND it ran good.
