I was going to post this yesterday, but forgot the pics.
I got nearly all of the floor bracing built in my roadster and let porknbeaner use my lathe to finish narrowing his 9" for his altered.

put the ECI kit /75 chevy brakes on my 53. stops good but takes all the pedal to do it. should i put 10 lb residual pressure valves in for the rear drums? one or two? don't suppode there is a magic dual m/c that will let me keep a floor mount clutch pedal?

  7. Made up another set of plug wires and put them and a new cap on. The terminals in the cap were really corroded from my fire extiguisher event over a year ago. Did some rewiring and hooked up a new three wire oxygen sensor to my air/fuel gauge. Did a bit of heater duct work so it'll blow at my feet better. Reset the valves on the left head. Decided I should get rich so I could build another hemi the way I want to next time!

  8. Steve that is way to Traditional for me. (tomatoe)

That coupe is beautiful man, you got it in spades.

Me and the wife went to the GR car show Saturday, stopped at the local bar on the way home, and had way too much fun!;)
Sunday, I welded up a front grill ornament, in the shape of a Eagle head, just kind of experimenting at this point.

  10. That looks painful, guess if I drop coin it'll have to stay if your in the neighborhood.:D

  11. A couple things I have learned along the way:

    1) Make sure your rear wheel cylinders are expanded far enough by turning the tensioner out until you only have a small gap between the shoe and the drum... otherwise your pedal fills up the wheel clyinder before it hits the drums... sometimes causing the wheel cyl plunger to pop out and drench everything in brake fluid.

    2) Make sure your calipers are on with the bleeder facing up.

    3) If you have an under floor master cylinder, use residual pressure valves for rear drums and front discs. Otherwise, use 2# RPV for front discs.

    4) Get the money BEFORE you take your top off.

Tuck and I discussed low-cost ways of dropping the front of my f-100. I also tore off the remaining sheetmetal up front, and started cleaning up the frame and firewall. Here are some pics:

We talked about instead of z'ing the frame or flipping the axle, perhaps moving the springs from under the frame, to the inside of the frame. I could make a plate which would bolt onto the stock axle spring mount using the outside two u-bolt holes, and have u-bolts going from the inside u-bolt holes to a pair of holes in the new plate further inside on the new plate. We could weld the plate to the axle, and then you just adjust your stance by moving the spring perches up or down.

    Any thoughts?

    Ben

P.S. I also dumped about four metric tonnes of crud on the floor of my garage... didn't realize that much crud could fit in a truck this small! :)

  15. Sounds doable, but look real close and make sure what you gots to move to a different location to accomodate the new spring perches.

  16. Put up some Pallet rack/shelving to reclaim some floor space around here.

Those that have been to the shop understand why.

I located the hairpin mounting tabs on my frame and welded them solid. took the front end apart. Then took my front spring apart, washed all the leaves and my spindles in my wife's dishwasher, metal prepped and por-15ed all the leaves, my front axle, and the back side of my spindles. Wife was cool about the dishwasher abuse...and I was pleasantly surprised! Welded and ground my arse off on my frame. I'm so damn close to a rolling chassis it hurts.....:D

    MUST GIT ER DONE!

  19. I'm not too much into pain myself. But that is some pain I would like to see.

Unlike the person that coined the phrase I have been there so just leme say "I feel your pain".:D

Snag a snap or two for us lazy bums that could use a little inspiration.

When I got my chevy it was primer black with red steel wheels and since its a four door everyone thinks im some rat rod jerk ha ha j/k , so I got out the wire wheel and took the wheels back to bare metal. Took some time but I like it, looks good with the chrome trim rings. Still need to work all the little nooks and crannies out with a little sand paper.

  24. Wrell I'm thinkin' that a chebby moredoor in flat black is a beater of sorts.

But don't dispair you're in good company.

ya gonna leave the wheels raw or slather some other color of paint on 'em.

Got my new 62 Falcon home and went to Pomona swap meet and got lots of parts for the Falcon and the modified.

It was a good weekend. :)

  30. Made up door panels and kick panels out of masonite (hardboard) and upholstered them with pleated vinyl (that heat-welded stuff from Gary's Upholstery). Looking sharp!
