so , I have a 1954 Chevy, and was wondering if there was any steering box that's better, that can be used without 'too much' modification/fabrication.?.

Parts are available to rebuild the one you have. You need to examine all of the components and replace anything worn then have a good alignment done and it will probably be better than you think. Those old Chevys drove pretty good and in '54 the brakes were upgraded too.

Ive seen bushings, gaskets and seals. The hard to find parts are the actual gears. Does anyone have a good source for those?
