My wife has an F 100 with a 352 4 speed. She wants an automatic because she is getting old. I have a friend with a C4 . I'm not a Ford guy so I'm not sure if it will work. I thought we would get a Gennie shifter that will go through the floor hole and leave the 3 peddles. Question: Is the crank the same and will it bolt up? what about the drive shaft, longer, shorter, different yoke? This was my wife's dads truck and has the granny low tranny. Kind of a pain for a ready to retire lady. ( did I put that nice enough not to get in trouble?) Thanks
The C-4 will not bolt up to the FE. There might be an adapter made?? One more thing, there was a bolt pattern change in the mid 60s for these engines, so if uyou use an adapter make sure it's the right one. The easiest, option...live with the T98. Cruisomatic,C-6 and FMX transmissions were offered with the FE.
I am putting a C6 behind my Fe, but note you need a c6 that was originally behind one, some were for the other ford motors and won't work. @FrozenMerc can you clarify
I have a rebuildable c6 from a 76 f100 with a 360 you scan have if you want to come to the Hutchinson swap meet in October.
A C4 will bolt up to a FE just fine if you have the correct bellhousing. I have been running one behind my race car for years.... Performance Automatic among others make the correct bellhousing...
