Bringing old tires back to life ???

Rubber breaks down with age, there's no getting around it. I recently bought a set of used but still had the ***s on 'em BFG TA Radials that had been on a Corvette that was in storage. Put 'em on my '66 F100 and they made it about 40 miles before they started seperating. They "looked" like new but were junk. Dont take a chance on old tires.

 

Bias Ply tires will last much longer than radials.

I've had lots of radials in the 7-10 year old range either come apart, or one, taken off the vehicle and stored on it's side in a stack, blew up for no reason late at night. Blew right out and peeled the tread back. Guys who were there heard it, thought it sounded like a gunshot, couldn't figure out what it was until later when I noticed the tire blown out.

On the other hand I had a car that had been parked in 1963 and never touched. I never even put air in the tires and I flat towed it twice, well over 100 miles total.
