Saw this and though I would share. Narration is kind of corny but there is some cool footage on El Mirage in the 50's http://www.macsmotorcitygarage.com/2014/01/20/video-road-runners-an-early-50s-hot-rodding-film/
No. You're right. The narration leaves a bit to be desired but the footage is excellent! I've been racing at El Mirage for 17 years. Would love to have been there back then when the rule book wasn't the size of a telephone directory. I do understand the need for safety and the SCTA is one of the last organizations where the classes aren't spec classes. You dream it, you build it and you can race it.
Great old footage!---Remember the old "Gaucho" shirts? One guy was wearing one with the 2 stripes, I used to wear ones at hi school with dirty cord pants & Levi's 1946-1950.
Corny or not, I loved it. Sure it was a little hokey but, it gives us a glimpse into a time that all of us wish we could have witnessed in person. Makes me want to go for a roadster ride today.
