anyone out there know of anywhere that sells pre upholstered seat covers that i could intall myself??????To have some one local to me recover my seats is more then an arm and leg. Macs, concours, dennis carpenter dont list seat covers for 52,53,54
You might ask here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/social-forums/upholstery.153/ There are a bunch of DIY videos on seat covers here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=seat+covers+for+cars Just have to sort through one that works. Look for an Automotive trade school that teaches upholstery, sometimes they will take on a project and you just supply the materials.
My '54 seems to have some sort of replacement vinyl covers on the seats, so I feel like at some point there must have been a company making them. Unfortunately they came on the car when I bought it, and I have no idea where they came from. I'd like to find another set because the ones in my car are starting to come apart.

Have you checked LeBarron-Bonney (sp)? They carry upholstery for '57's. If they have it, they'll also want an arm and a leg as well as your first born. Don't quote me, but I think some of the guys on the 57 forum paid in the 2K plus range.
Back in the day, people would buy cars new from the dealer and have seat covers installed before they took delivery of it. I've taken tattered covers off more than a few cars and found the new OG seats under them, never even farted on.
LeBaron Bonney does make some beautiful and accurate looking kits although for the price they better be good. One word of caution however, unless you plan on keeping the car garaged or under a cover you might want to buy elsewhere since at least some of their upholstery has very poor UV resistance. The kit I had installed started fading in less than a year . . .
I ordered a nice set for both front and rear seats from Automotive Interiors online. They look great out of the box, have not tried to fit them yet but they were a great deal. Here's their website: http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/ Hope you like them. Rocky
So did you get an original reproduction pattern or AfterMarket Custom kit? Even if they are not mounted how about a picture so we can see the pattern?
I didn't order original pattern but a simple vertical pleat kit. Went with maroon and antique white piping. The kit seems good to me, check out the pics:
You must be looking at an old adverti*****t. His ad in the newer FoMoCo Times (CVA Mag) says Merc interiors. He sold the Ford stuff to Labarron-Bonney
