http://albany.craigslist.org/cto/4679868734.html Am I missing something here? Look at the car, then at the price.
I have a list I keep of ads like that. Most would look like this... "RARE OPPOTUNITY TO OWN A RARE CL***IC!!!!!!!! THEY DONT MAKE EM LIKE THIS ANYMORE!!!!! PROJECT 95% COMPLETE ALL THE HARD WORK IS DONE JUST NEED TO ASEMBLE!!!! NO LOWBALLERS!!!! NO WEIRDOS!!!!"
If it were me posting that, it would be my buddies car that I listed as a joke! Come to think of it, I think it is a joke!
...saw a sign in a truck for sale(39Chevy) yesterday at a swapmeet; said "parked for 48 years in a barn, owner said it ran good when he parked it!"
Haha. I got a guy on CL locally with a "drag race 307" that he is selling for $5600... You should buy that motor and put it in that impala.
I don't get what you don't get. It's a '58 Impala. How many are left on the planet? it'll be worth 20K more than a 4 door when finished. there's your difference.
Out here in L.A. I have seen convertible 58 Impalas, in that same condition but all parts there, go for about $18,000 here at the pomona swap meet. 58 impalas are no joke out here for the homeboys. Don't get me wrong, as much as I like the Impalas, I personally would not pay that myself but they are scarce and there is a big following.
It's all relative anyway. 10 years from now, if we still have gas and it's still legal to build old cars and drive them, that might look like a screaming deal. That ad doesn't really show or tell ****. Maybe the front clip is still attached to the trim he says he has. Maybe he has a shed full of all the missing parts. Somebody needs to go check on it.
Your right on that s****iron, that's where I got burnt on my 56 buick wagon and he also jumped the ***le.Took 2 years to get it all straighten out.Bruce.
What you might not get is that, for that price, I can find you a running and driving, never been on a salted road, California car. It will be rough, but workable.
