So I buy a 1985 Ford 302 from 1 guy. It has all the stick parts with it, great!! Buy a T-5 from guy 2, bring it home, doesn't fit the bellhousing?????? Ok, find a bell housing from guy 3 that swears its off his 5.0 Mustang, trans bolts to it but it will no way bolt up to the motor!!!!!!! I hate you Ford guys!!!!! I mean WTF !!!!!
Its a Calantie. New paint, but its not that great, fresh lettering that is great!! 302 that supposed to be an 85, but after getting f..... by all the Ford people I've run across I don't even know. Also have a T-5 that's supposed to be a Ford but again, Who knows. I've been through 3 bellhousings and none are right. All the Calantie chrome is in the back seat. Have the clutch/brake pedal ***embly for it. mags on the front, Goodyear cheaters on the back. If I could figure out how to get it all together It would be a neat car! But the Ford guys are intent on screwing me out of my hard earned bucks, so I'll go back to my Chevys .
The bell housing the last guy got me with hat the top 2 holes way up high like a teepee. I questioned him on it and he says that is a v8 housing!! My fault I didnt have the spacer plate for the bolt pattern for my V 8, but Geeeeeezeeee!!!! I took my trans with me top verify that. Its good. But I dont have a clue what the hell that bell bolts to. Maybe a straight 6??????? Dammmmit!!!!!!!
fords have useful part numbers on most of their parts. If you can't do pictures, maybe you can do part numbers. on the engine block, on the bellhousing, on the transmission.
Well, the trans seems to be void of ant numbers, except for the tag the guy pulled out of his pocket!!!!b Trans looks like it is in fact a Mustang T-5 WC trans. all the signs point to that. The bell I got tonight bolts to the trans, but is way different from the engine????
OK Ford ........The bell that fits the 302 isD9DC6394 BA. Bolts to engine, not to trans. The one that fits the trans is E6ZR-6394-BA....trans fits this but no way bolts to engine..
E6ZR-6394-BA is a 4 cylinder bellhousing. 1986 mustang. The bellhousing that fits the motor is a 1969.
btw with fords, as you just learned, you have to really do your homework before you buy anything. They ain't like chevys...nothing fits anything else.
I don't know what a cobalt is, but a 4 cylinder 154 or 153 bellhousing will fit a six, or a small block V8, or a big block V8, or a LS if you are into late models. Ford had a different bellhousing for each of a few different 4s, a couple different sixes, and at least half a dozen for V8s.
So you clearly did zero research into what parts you needed, bought the wrong stuff and chucked a tantrum.. and somehow its Fords problem? Righto..
Aw, it's not that bad.... but you do need to be at least a bit aware. And a D9 # would be a '79, not a '69 not that it matters because both are pre-T5 bells....
I PRINTED OUT 25 PAGES OF STUFF ON HOW TO IDENTIFY THE STUFF I WAS TRYING TO PUT TOGETHER. AND I WILL SHARE WITH YOU I NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH THE CHEVY CROWD, I GUESS BECAUSE THEY CANT PULL THE WOOL ,SO TO SPEAK, BECAUSE CHEVY IS SOMEWHAT NORMAL, I.E. UNIVERSAL IN PART MANUFACTURE. THEREFOR YOU CANT F... CHEVY PEOPLE SO EASY!!!!!
oops...yeah, D is 70s. I"m getting too old for this. If you come from the world of Chevys, then fords can really throw you for a loop. I learned when I was still a teenager, on the neighbor's 65 falcon, trying to swap a V8 where a 6 used to be. what a royal pain in the ****, every part of the drivetrain was different. And then ended up trying to put an older six back in, and that was also a nightmare. If you like a challenge, then working on Fords can be quite fulfilling.
Your D9 bellhousing is for a SROD 4speed ****** to 302cu different pattern than T5, but you can sell it for decent money because its the bellhousing you need to bolt a Tremec 3550 up to a small block Ford, as squirrel said the E6 bell is for a 2.3 4cyl Mustang T5, you should go back and make that a permanent aluminum ballcap for whoever sold you that. Doesn't matter nowdays what brand your loyal to, there are lyin *******s out there everywhere and they will tell you what you want to hear to ****** your hardearned $$$ away from you, it's why you have to know what you are looking at and research what you need ahead of time. I used to own a small 5.0 Mustang salvage yard years ago, and still have a few parts around, I have the right bellhousing you need to bolt the T5 up to your 302cu. It's my gift to you, just pay shipping from Central Florida where I live, message me and we will work out getting it to you. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
another option is to get the adapter to fit the srod bell that is easyer if you want to use a stock style clutch linkage
The D9 bell he has is for a 79 to mid 84 5.0 Mustang and it is for a cable actuated clutch arm. Modern Driveline has the complete cable conversion kit for your Comet's factory clutch pedal setup, $259.00 http://www.safepay.net/cgi-bin/shop/cart.cgi?db=mddata.txt&category=cable&merchant=moderndriveline If you want to use your factory mechanical linkage here is the adapter you need along with listed bellhousing numbers you will need to look for, the adapter is $149.00 http://store.sacramento-mustang.com/1964-1970-t5-adapter-plate-for-orig-bellhousing-p2763.aspx The price all determines if you can find a early 6 bolt bellhousing and what you'll pay for it. And if you want the shifter to come out in the factory location you will have to do the S10 tailhousing shifter toplate swap, unless you don't mind the shifter sitting further back on the tunnel. Depends on preferences. There are several ways to do the conversion, you need to research how you want to go about doing it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
