Any suggestions? As you can see its pretty clean under the cover. I think the diaphragm must be froze up. Would it do me any good to pour some vinegar in there and soak it over night? Got the faintest noise once while hitting the button but it went away. Also, should I maybe drill the rivets out?
Here's a few good tutorials. http://www.clubfte.com/users/dmptrkr/hornrepair.html http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/198.cfm
Fuck! Common sense! Read some period shop manuals. Or wait until I'll get back home and scan you some pages... Any 30's ford, dodge or GM shop manual will tell you to tune the contacts to get her scream... Basically it's just a coil to pull the diagraph, not that complicated. I recall i figured it out just playing araund with the 1st for ahooga horn...
I already read my shop manual and adjusted them with no luck. This is my first messing with a horn so calm down
Got them working today! A previous owner rigged up a switch under the dash to blow the horns which has gone bad somehow. After undoing that wire and pulling it through the firewall, then touching it directly to the battery I was able to get some noise out of the old things. Took some fiddling with the adjusting nuts, and still will take more to dial them just right, but they work! Now if I could just figure out how to wire them properly.
for one wire them thru a relay as they draw a load of current and the horn switch in the column cannot handle it and some set ups are wired so the ground make the circuit not the battery .
