I saw a Lincoln Continental today at a local U Pull It with some really cool front aluminum, finned brake drums. I didn't get a chance to pull the wheels off to inspect further, but I was wondering if they were able to be used on earlier cars and if there was any value in them? I'd love to put them on my 38 Ford RPU, but didn't want to waste my time and money if they aren't easily adaptable. Anyone have experience using them?
No experience with them but go grab them,I seen a 66 galaxie in a junkyard that had finned aluminum drums and wished I would have took them home. I do not think Ford made too many with aluminum drums and might have been a experiment since I never heard much about them.
Well, I went back today and they were still there so I grabbed the pair. They are in great shape but they are 5 x 5 bolt pattern. I may redrill them to 5 x 4 1/2 and use them on my truck, or I may just put them up for sale on eBay and let them go to someone that needs them. They measure 11" x 3".
You might want to get the backing plates and brake parts too if you did not, with all the parts they might be more easily adapted.
