I need to pick up a tri five chevy roof with the posts. Will it fit in the back of a full size short box pickup? 10 hour drive so I want to make sure it fits.
    Thanks

  2. Well, if you fold it real carefully......... I don't have a pick-up or a tri-five so I can't help with measurements. I would put some 2x4s that will reach across the box and maybe some lawn furniture pillows or what have you to support it in the truck and go get it.

Roof side down and posts up. It should snuggle down against the wheel tubs and be easy to tie down.

or posts down, roof up. The roof on my 55 is 63" wide at the bottom where it attaches to the car, it's about 6' long, the sedan roof is about 6" longer. The bed of my 80 chevy truck is 65" wide at the top inside. Should fit ok.

I hauled a fiberglass front end for a 56 Chevrolet by placing it backwards, on the rear of a 63 Chevy II Station Wagon; got a LOT of looks on that one. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Make sure it is securely strapped in.

Had a plastic molded bedliner I was bringing home in my truck. At night on the highway it lifted out and disappeared, never to be seen again.

buddy of mine did this about 5 years ago we wrapped the posts in furniture blakets from u haul and taped them good, over the top we put two more pads and crissedcrossed straps to the bed of the truck. we only had a 150 mile trip but he drove like an old lady all the way back made it fine.

It fit down in the bed of the pickup with the back sitting on the spare tire in the bed, the front fit perfectly over the tailgate with the post hanging over. My truck is a 03 2500 Dodge.
