I've got a friend of a friend who has a 1933 Chevy Master Eagle Coupe with a 396. Supposedly at one time it ran, but it's been sitting for approx 15 years. He says it has the usual rust. I think it's far from street worthy. My question- what is a fair price? I don't wanna low ball him- nor get ripped off?? $1500? too much too low?? thanks in advance, Scott
Keep in mind that you'll be replacing all of the wood in the body with metal tubing. It's not hard and the tubing will be relatively cheap, but you'll have a lot of time in it (40 hours?). I have no idea what the coupe is worth in cash without seeing it.
I sent him these photos and he told me that his 33 looked very similar- though he has boxed the frame and a 12 bolt rear with a 4 link suspension. is $1500 a steal? I've heard that 33 Chevy's are pretty uncommon... Anyone? Scott
$1500 is a steal for solid Texas early iron. I think I would feel a little guilty getting a 33 coupe, a big block, & 12 bolt from a "buddy" for that money. A 396 is going for 4 or 5 hundred and a decent 12 bolt is at least $150 or more if it is a posi. By the time you add on the 4 link and the boxed frame, plus whatever else is in the car, you are almost getting the body for free. If you don't buy it please, please, please give me his number.
That sounds like a really good price to me! I'd hop on that deal before someone else does. 33's are nice looking coupes in my opinion. I replaced most of the wood in my 34 Chevy with steel and put some new pieces in where steel wasn't neccesary. -Rich
tell ya what , he aint my buddy , Ill take it for that and pay finder on it hehe.......my first (street rod) was a 33 eagle coupe on A ch***is no fenders and 301 sbc a blast..............
WAY too much money for it.....feel free to pm me the guys phone number, i'll let you have the BBC.... why can't i find something this cool!
402 isn't an old truck motor. It's a 70 and newer 396 (maybe 69 too). The engine grew slightly but Chevy initially kept calling it a 396.
(Taking a number from dispenser) I'm #3 in line! (swinging watch in front of monitor and speaking softly) "You two don't want it! Leave it for me..."
spudshaft is right. a 402 is b***ically a punched out 396. They were made from 1969 to 1972. Although it really dosen't matter much the car is worth the money without the motor. Besides any Chevy bigblock, even a less than desirable 402, is better than the most desirable Ford. Get off the computer and go buy the car!
