Found some Guy who has complete Chevy wood kits(doors, seats, etc.), there was no website available, and I only talked to him for about 5 mins. Classic Wood (336)-691-1344 1928 Chevy $2,000-Roadster $4,000-Coupe I've tried chevywood and they are booked, and Autowood couldn't help me cause of that year. Also I'm still looking for a body, 28 coupe, if any leads let me know.
Thanks for the info it's nice to know about the wood being available, but I am with Kerry on using steel for a long term hot rod build. I like to replace all the wood with steel, it just makes me more comfortable for driving in modern traffic situations. There was a reason that chevys weren't used as stock cars back in the day, one good hit and they would explode.
If it was safe it wouldn't be fun, I don't wanna limp away, if a big rig is going to hit me I hope they do it right. There are many cons to a wood frame(weathering, safety, price, etc.) but It looks cool to me, and it'll get better gas mileage too, ha ha. Just passing along info. also I found some books, diagrams, and other pictures to help people out with the framing, Metal or Wood.
Any unfo that you have on rebuilding early gm vehicles would be welcome on this board . That are a lot of us on here and we are always looking for new ideas. Thanks John
I looked through the thread you suggested, there was a lot more info than what I brought to the table, very humble, but your welcome. And I'm still looking for a 28 coupe body, any condition, not any price tho....
I have 2 complete bodys and both sets of running gear, only 1 frame. I have 4 transmissions, 1 running motor, 1 motor in pieces, all glass, etc. one mostly complete needs new wood, the other one needs wood and a frame.
2 body's and running gear' transmissions and more. all or separate for sale, call vern @ 530-894-1404 (located in california) e-mail me at ibvernon@att.net thanks
It's almost a year after Vernon's post but I just called him about the '28 parts. Unfortunately, he sold them already, but said the fellow was from Princeton, CA. If anyone (by some miracle) has knowledge of who it might be, I'd be grateful for a name or contact info. Apparently he purchased more stuff than he probably can use, so I'm hopin' there's some leftovers thanks,
