You big dummy, (to quote Red Fox) It is not just a 51 ford truck you are buying, it is the history behind it. If the truck had been wrecked and rebuilt, I'm sure that would affect the price some. There is someone out there that enjoyed the show that wouldn't think twice about dropping that kind of money and more on a piece of TV history.
Aunt Esther: I need help Fred G. Sanford: Help? I'm just a junkman, not a plastic surgeon. Aunt Esther Anderson: Please, Fred, I need your truck. Fred G. Sanford: I agree. Son, you take the truck and run over Esther's face."
My dad and I watched that show together a few times. It was one of a handful of times my dad ever laughed at or watched a sitcom, he REALLY enjoyed. So, yeah, I'd buy it in a heart beat, if I had the money.
Yet, Wikipedia reveals this: The pickup truck depicted in the series is a 1951 Ford, which was crashed on July 12, 1997 by its owner, Donald Dimmitt of Dimmitts Auto Salvage, a real-life junk dealer in Walnut Township, Marshall County, Indiana.[4]
"A fool and his money are soon parted" But, that's OKAY.....it keeps the economy going........and I continue to do my part Ray
Grady: Fred, I need to borrow five dollars. Fred: ( searching his pockets) Grady, you caught me at a bad time... (pulls out a five) ...I got it. "You know, Gaddy, you don't buy beer, you just rents it." One of the best shows ever. The truck? I hope tfeverfred wins the lottery and buys it.
