I am starting on a blown 355 SBC and am curious if anyone has bought or used any of their parts recently and would like to hear the pros and cons.
Only pro's....being one of the oldest blower shops around, they know what they're doing and have a good reputation. I've bought drive parts and end plates for my blower builds from Dyer's and they're good with tech advise as well.
Thanks guys, really appreciate the replies. The engine will see mostly street use, but will still get "beat on" and I hate to spend money on something I will regret.
I ran an OLD V6-71 Dyers set up on my old coupe. Like the others said, NO problems at all. Bought a bunch of stuff from them when i set it up as well, again, no complaints at all. Tony
I just bought a blower kit from them this summer and was very happy with the quality of all the parts and the customer service. I would buy again from this company.
Have a riend with one, went right to their shop and bought it. Has had it for years, on cars, his jet boat, etc.... It is nice quality and they stand behind their stuff too.
The only thing that ****ed about it was when I was younger if I wanted to go to cruise night I always had to polish it, I got real familiar with never dull.
Thanks for the comments. It's always good to hear about a company that has a great product and stands behind their work with good customer relations. I will probably purchase a 6-71 in the near future.
You can put one together yourself converting a stock 6-71. I did it last winter and its very easy to set up and the cost is very minimal compared to buying a new one. With a stock non stripped 6-71 on a sbc I've been 126mph in the 1/8th mile. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I would recommend to just buy the kit, nothing else to purchase. You can also order it in a low boost set up if you want for street use. They custom make these blowers and mine took 3 weeks. They also have V-belt options. I went with a 3' wide belt and it whines like a 6-71 should. Shipped in three heavy boxes and everything was package really well and even a free Dyers blowers t-shirt.
Big YES. Great quality and service. I've been told by many it was the shiniest blower they've seen. Dyers mounted their pulley to my harmonic balancer which I shipped to them. The BDS's kit came with a solid HB (can't remember if the BDS HB was double keyed?). (this info is 20+ years dated)
Yep....don't be surprised if the old man himself answers.....Gary Dyers is the ****. You've only called one of the oldest blower shops in the country. Still kicking these cases out, just like he was when he drove 'em. Sent several pallets of old GMC stuff his way twice......for core purchases. Never knew anything about him.......he magically sent my checks within three days of delivery and that told me enough. I've recommended him ever since.......have two guys in Dallas in love with that man's work. Never a problem, and unlimited tech support. Awesome guy, great stuff......
Gary Dyers helped me set up a 671 street blower that we traveled cross country with. Great help.........
Saw that this almost 2 year old thread was resurrected this morning. Hope I will order a Dyers blower one day. Project X ran a Dyers blower in The Hollywood Knights era
Here's what's happened so far......I have the bottom end put together and have been sidetracked on a '62 biscayne project. Once I get the biscayne finished I will be back on the blower engine to put in my '57 Chevy 2-door wagon. I still plan on running a Dyer's set-up.
