with the multiple large photos and detailed description you have posted I'm sure you will have an accurate appraisal in no time.
Does it have a ***le? Are there fenders, a frame, a hood and/or grille, or just what we can see in the picture? Is the firewall in it, how about the dash? That's all pretty expensive stuff. Just based on what I can see in the pic, ***uming there's nothing else with it, but also ***uming the door bottoms and subrails are nice, I would think that's around a $4K body sitting there. And that's probably the cheapest you'd ever get into a solid '32 body, maybe short of a pickup truck.
I wish I had bigger and better pics myself. My bud sent just the one and bounced. He said minimal rust at the bottoms of the doors. Not sure on other parts but from the other pics he said there is a lot of stuff bit all over the property. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I would go with Squablow on the $4K but there is a lot that you can’t see in the picture. I ***ume in the number that everything you can’t see in the pictures is there and in good condition. Does it have floors, a firewall, window mechanisms, door mechanisms, cowl vent and mechanism? Is there rot in the door bottoms and elsewhere? A more important question might be what do you intend to do with it? If you plan to flip it then it might not be worth the time and money. If you plan to build it into a full fendered car there is a long way to go and this might not be the best place to start. What do you and/or you buddy plan to do with the car? I would start by answering that question and make up a sheet showing all that you would need to buy of fabricate to get there. I bet that you would be better off buying a better car than trying to start with just the body. Now a few general comments on the 4 door ’32 cars. I decided I wanted one and looked from about 1990 to 1995 to find one. They are hard to find since most of them ended up having the body removed from the ch***is and a roadster body installed since they were probably the lowest priced ’32. I wonder if that is how this body ended up in the desert? I wanted one so I could carry a few people in the car. Everyone I asked said they didn’t know of one for sale but there were a “lot” of them in Hemming’s. I think they were living in the 1970’s. From what I found they are not out there. I bought mine in about 1995 for $8K. It was best described as an almost complete “barn find”. Since I purchased mine I have seen several “tired” but complete running cars in the $25K to $35K range. Mine is currently in the garage waiting to be worked on when I find the time. Charlie Stephens
I had one that was converted into a coupe like they are doing to the '33-'34 4 doors currently. It looked pretty good with 4" chop, the only problem was the guy made homemade quarters. by s***ching a bunch of splices together, if it had repro coupe quarters I would have kept it. Now that I have a family I would not mind having a '32 4 door, but having a family means I am broke so that solves my problem of wanting one. See how well that worked out !!
I guess I live in the dark ages,I don't see sticking my neck out on a single photo. I would say without a ***le or frame 2 grand tops. and I am one of those guys that like 4 doors. HRP
How much is your friend asking for the car??? His price may stop the entire conversation or stoke the flames under you. Is the car close enough to go look at? When you go to look, bring cash and a truck and be ready to close the deal. You should be a quick study expert on 32 4 dr.'s before you go. Looks pretty solid. Looks like a small tree or two have fallen against the cowl and back roof.
Thanks for the info guys. The 32 is about 8 hrs away. So I can't check it out. But at this point not sure what is going to happen with it or if he even wants to get sell it. The ****py thing is my buddy is in the process of moving to the east coast at the moment so I haven't been able to talk to him. But there is a bunch of other cool stuff out at the farm. I'd ask for photos of all the tin on the property, get a price on it all, rent a box truck if you don't have a truck & trailer, and buy it all. You may get the '32 Fordor for a reasonable rate after you flip what you don't want. Nothing wrong with selling wanted parts to others. Bob
The frame MAY be out there still. In one of the pics of the pickup, there looks like a heavy 32 front axle. Cant tell for sure.
I saw that too but it looks bent and I guess it's just the angle but the other end looks like a tie rod end. HRP
