I should have order bias tubes with my tires 560-15 Firestones because all the tire stores in town have is radial tubes. Can I use these the tire guy said yes but I don't trust them guys.I have 1950's Caddy wire wheels this is why I need the tubes.I also have 7.75-15 Radir slicks that are already mount up with the radial tubes I noticed this after they where mounted thats why I don't trust the tire guy.Do you think I'm ok to go or not. Darrell (fordcpe)
Radial tubes will work fine in bias tires. Bias tubes should not be put in radial tires, so I have been told. I think the radial tubes are a little thicker or something to work with the additional flexing from the radial tire. Neal
I think your right they are thicker and I though they mite run hotter becauce of this. I hope its not a problem. Darrell
Absolutely! Radial tubes have heavier gauge rubber, better splices, and a heavier valve stem base, all to deal with the more flexible radial design. Watch for anything in the drop center of the wheel that can chafe or nick the tube belly, especially the spoke ends. You can cut a band out of a smaller tube the width of the drop center and stretch it around the wheel like a big rubber band over the spokes.
Not an expert but radial tubes will work just fine in bias tires. We used to look for radial tubes to go in our wood haulers because they are more thorn resistant. Run 'em and don't sweat it. If you don't have an old tube to use for a rim liner duct tape will also work for a rim liner.
Ok, If you have a Bias-Ply tire. You have 2 options when it comes to tubes, Bias & Radial. All the replies you've gotten on here are absolutely true. Radial tubes will be fine in a bias ply tire simply for the fact that a bias tire does not run near the temp that a radial does. If you have a drop center rim, I would suggest wrapping it in "Wonder Wrap" PVC Tape, Especially if you have spoked rims . You can get this at any hardware store that sells them.
