Hey everybody I am new to h.a.m.b. I am looking at a 1955 chevy 210 in centralia Illinoise but I live in Montana and can not make it down there to physically look at the car and 14,000 dollars is to much for me to take the guys word so I was hoping someon on H.A.M.B. may live near there and may be able to go look at it for me I could kick you back a little cash for your help.
First off David welcome from Northern Illinois . Secondly I don't care how much money you would be willing to kick back as you say for someone that you don't know personally to go and check out a car for that sum of money from the Rust Belt of the Midwest is a good idea. Even if I were your brother and knew your preferences I wouldn't do it. If you can't come for whatever reasons and see it in person, then by all means look for a car out West that you can see for yourself. Sorry to come off so strong but I've seen it happen on this end from a California car that a friend of mine did exactly what you're planning to do. Only his was $25,000 and he at least knew the guy somewhat. Hard lesson learned.
If there is anybody out there who would like to help a brother out I would appreciate it. Its not so much a matter of taste as just making sure the car is accurate to the description given by the seller. I really like the car for what it is and just need someone to confirm for me that what he is telling me is true as I would love to buy the car but am afraid to buy it sight unseen. If you are willing to help please message me and I will get you my number.
I agree with Slopok you need to look at the car in person My friend and I have the same tastes but never agree on the same cars we look at for sale good luck
I'm not asking for anyone's opinion on taste- I just need to know if the facts in the description are accurate.
hey, DB: the problem is that everybody has a different opinion of what is acceptable level of rust. I have one friend that tried to talk me into buying a 67 Pontiac with a swiss cheese frame 'cuz you can always get a new frame'
