I have a 1950 Shoebox we saved from my Grandparents farm, but it needs a lot of work. While searching for parts, I came across this 49' for sale in WI. We happened to be taking a little family vacation in WI a couple weeks later and I stopped to check it out. She ran great and overall, in pretty good shape. They wanted to get it running before they sold it, and here's what they did: New coil, condenser, distributor cap, rotor, and points -New water pump, v-belt, radiator hose -Rebuilt carburetor -New 6v battery I ended up picking it up for $3500 (which from what I have seen, was a pretty decent deal) I have been around the block a few times, but until I get the brakes taken care of, I won't venture too far. I'm very excited to get going updating some things and having a great family fun car next summer! Mitch
I don't blame you for buying the car, that's a good deal. I'm sure someone will have something to say about the car having too many doors but I would have done the same thing. Congratulations. HRP
Good for you. You got a great deal. You cant buy a slightly reliable piece of **** OEM car for that kind of money and now you have something cool !
I do have 2. I'm waiting to see what my brothers & dad would like to do with the 50'. I may pull the V8 out of it to put in the 49', but it's all up in the air right now. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
True words my friend! I'm not going to lie, it's pretty sweet having 2 right now! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
its been a while since the last post, but I have been enjoying the 49 too much. Right now I'm in the middle of a brake upgrade with the disc kit from Shoebox Central. I'm thinking of moving the master to the firewall though. Any tips on that would be great!
Why not just upgrade your MC and use the stock pedal. Or, for the same price you can get a whole new ***embly from Butch's that fits under the floorboard. Leaves your firewall clean and if you decide for an engine upgrade at some point you won't have to fight the space problem.
