I got this the other day too. I know what it is, what I don't know is if it has any value at all. I posted this question on a Pontiac forum. It has over 500 views in a little over 24 hours, but only one response. It is for a 61/62 Super Duty. If there is no value in it I will probably hang it on the wall. Thanks for any opinions.

Looks like the opening where the carb sits has been altered........

if so, I wonder how much effect that would have on desirability?

put it on an ebay auction starting at a dollar, you'll find out how much value it has.

This is what it is supposed to look like. Much more damage than just the carb opening.

Oh, it's got some serious value. Any super duty parts are gold to us Pontiac guys. I'm more into the 55-60 stuff myself but the 61-64 guys will go ape **** over that intake. Check out the "Performance Years" Pontiac site.

  6. That was my first thought. "Where's the rest of it?"

I was raised pontiac and have seen the thermostat sections cut off before. Pontiac heads have round coolant p***ages at the ends of the heads that you can tap to run fittings and hoses, or plugs, which I've seen in drag race setups. Another possibility was an alcohol based engine that didn't run a radiator at all in a rail or digger.

Ruknnin, Now that you mention it, it does look like it was cut off instead of broken. What a shame!

  11. Lots of pontiac manifolds get cut.
The cut makes it a dry manifold and it's not as detrimental to its value as you might think. It's not a museum piece any more so it won't put your kids thru collage but I'd guess it get them a couple sets of tires.

Seems the bolt/flanges are missing on one end. How would you fasten it down? On the other hand, it is a perfect wall hanger. Tim

very common to divorce the water crossover from the rest on Pontiacs-even if you're going to keep the water crossover. It allows you to align both sections better on the heads. -rick.

just remember this will only work on real super duty heads. Then you need SD rocker arms etc etc etc. It seemed like there was no end to the SD parts non interchange. If you are into SD parts you know all this but don't try to up grade a 389.

Rocky, Thanks for the PY site. I did post there but now I can't log in. It accepts my screen name and p***word, takes me to the screen that says "thanks for logging in " and then redirects me back to log in. After about 20 of these I give up.

The guy who responded on the PY board is one of the main experts on early Super Duty engines, he was racing them back when they were new. I'd tend to agree with him - with the water crossover cut off and missing, it's not worth a lot.

A 1961 SD manifold will bolt onto 1955-1960 production heads and 1961 SD heads. It won't work on other heads without a bunch of modifications.

The thing is, there's a limited market for that particular manifold. Guys who are going racing want the late 1962-1963 SD parts because they performed better, and the guys who want 1961 SD parts are more likely trying to recreate an era correct show car so they want parts that are in mint condition. It's probably better suited for having a cool thing to hang on the wall than anything else.
