I recieved this email this morning. I took a drive last night from Plano to Lewisville, and noticed a larger than usual contingent of highway patrol on my drive. Not to mention, they were all busy with 'customers'.
    So, beware.
    -------------------------------------------------
    Subject: Speeding

Dallas and the state of Texas will launch a 30-day speeding ticket
frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in
speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers and Dallas
Police officers overtime. There will be 50 police officers and state
troopers in the Metroplex on duty at all times patrolling the 10 main
    intersections and highways.

    They are the following:

    I-35E north and south

    I-20 east and west

    75 north and south

    635 entire loop

    114 east and west

    183 east and west

    175 north and south

North Dallas Tollway north and south

George Bush Turnpike east and west

    360 north and south

Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every officer is
supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They
have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are
bringing all their part timers on full time. If you work in Dallas or
the surrounding areas you must take one of these interstates, routes,
or parkways. It's up to you how fast you are doing when they do.
WBAP-820/AM confirmed all of this yesterday (1/19/06) morning.

So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.

And right there lies the reason for speeding tickets in the first place. They don't even try to hide it any more.

    Safety? No. Money....yes.

If I had back all the money I've paid in speeding tickets in Texas since I was 16, I could build at least one more hot rod. What's that saying Dr. J always uses? Oh yes, something like..."Goverment, the biggest gang in town."

    Thanks for the heads up.

i didnt even have a chance to get a ticket on 75-S this morning, nothing but traffic. why do they have to have 3 street sweepers cleaning the shoulder of 75 once a week making miles of traffic in the AM?

i'll keep my eye out on the way home though. thanks for the heads up.

I've never had a problem with the ticket price, its the cost the insurance co. will bilk you on that ticket that pisses me off.

Traffic cops shouldn't even wear badges, they just need to have the patches of what INS. Co. they're working for on their sleeves. Safeco, Geico, Farmers, State Farm, fuck em'!

    Snopes.com says thats false.

Regardless, I've found its just easier to set my cruise control at 5 over and have to worry about if theres a cop over the next rise. I still get in a hurry when I'm late for school but driving 80 really doesn't save me that much time. Plus I don't even have money to pay off my last speeding ticket.

Guess I'll need to start keeping the needle under 3 digits now....

(I have been seeing a larger "presence" last couple days.)

  9. In MO they can write you for a mile over.
I don't understand it a speedo is only required to be within' 10% unless they have lowered the standards since last I checked. So they can write you a ticket for less over than your speedo is required to meausre accurately.

While we're on the topic of revenue leme stand on my soapbox and hijack this post.

A little off topic but the city of KC is trying to put a 100,000,000.00 bill on the April ballet to put a roof on the football stadium and base ball park. This for a football team and base ball team that never wins. And the guys that make the money off this new roof/ball park don't have to come up with the cash. they want it from us and the only concession is we get first crack at spending money there (buying tickets) so we pay for it then pay for it again.

    sorry for the rant.

    Carry on

I am recieving many confirmations outside HAMB, that their are many more of 'em out there, recently.

All we can do is set a goal of pathetically missing their 'goal'.

I can through the Big D Wednesday afternoon 75 to 45. There was even a bear in the air!!! The Plano to LBJ stretch was stupid with cops. The from whole Willis/Farris to Rice south of Dallas was almost as bad.

Houston has had the ticket churning going pretty hard lately as well.

  12. Good thing this "Jerry's kids telethon for badges" will be over by the Roundup. I plan on taking FR's and state highway anyways.

San Antonio built an enclosed arena for a football team that we don't have.

Hey porknbeaner, they just screwed a bunch of folks in Arlington Texas, for a new 'Cowgirl' stadium. Eminent Domain - snatched a bunch of neighborhoods, so Jerry Jones can have his new diamond in a goats ass. And I don't think the 'Cowgirls', or Jerry are puttin' much in the coffers for it, either.

You're best bet is to come by between 2 and 6, M-F. We are almost always here between those times. I'm sometimes gone in the mornings to buy parts and stuff.
