Thanks very much guys! I am having a blast and loving this project much more then my muscle car builds! It's always great when things in our heads turn into what they looked like in reality...so far so good.

But I Already think I need bigger back tires...once these are burned off anyway!

The input on the HAMB has been awesome and helped save me some precious time and trial and error as well!

    Thanks!

Today after work I started the fabrication of a dash extension, using PVC that I'll cover in fibergl*** and paint with the dash.

I also brought my windshield garnish to test fit, but it's way off. About 3" too narrow and not nearly as flat as the top edge of the windshield opening. Looks like I'll have to fab that, or find a correct part?

I'll post pics this weekend after I get the high build primer sprayed.

Here are some new pics from today's work...I'm getting even more motivated if that's possible. Only money could stop me now, or lack of it.

Last pic, all the other items getting their share of high build primer.

Now the second round of block sanding begins! But switchng to 320 grit.

I also started a dash extension. Laying it on the material I cut it out of made for a sketchy pic. :/

I haven't decided on making it into one piece or leaving them separable.

I think I may fibergl*** over the PVC so I can contour it to match the shape of the dash a little.... Hmmmm.

Today after work I started fabbing the door handle and its mechanism to work the bear claw latch. I also made a 3/16 thick brace that will help add rigidity to the fibergl*** door and also tapped it for 10-24 stainless mounting bolts. I gave it a curve to match the curve of the door inside to help spread any loads.
Since the door handle will want to go straight thru the gl***, to get to the latch arm, it has to be shortened and a linkage system built to go under the gl***.

Tomorrow I'll weld a short arm onto the handles now cut down square shaft. I'll mount the bellcrank to the door below the gl***es lowest point. Then I'll only a need to make two linkages to connect them all. Keeping in mind the ratio needed to trip the latch open is going to need modification since an 1/8 inch at the latches arm opens it. I'll want about a 4:1 ratio to make it less sensitive. The bellcrank component also has a centering spring to return the handle to center...if the linkage is right.

    Pics soon.

I am using 1/8" Rod with collets binding two sections together for fine adjustment and easier installation in a cramped door. Mock up is going well, once I make sure it performs well, I'll finish paint and get pics of it completed.

I put these up for auction so I can put the money towards a set that fit the gauge panel I bought. I need 3.125 speedo, this is a 3.375.

Also got a lot of the blocking done this week...

Oh, painted my motorcycle helmet today as well. My Harley is black, so a red helmet couldn't be tolerated any longer.

Thanks Grey Goat! I got the fenders blocked yesterday, just the running boards and hood parts, then it's getting paint!

    Maybe this coming weekend!

Gauge set ends tonight, up to $71 so far...

I'll go with Auto Meter to fit the panel I bought, most likely electronic speedo for easy ratio adjustments for tire, or gearing changes. Probably the tan, antique look set.

I started fibergl***ing the dash extension and dash together. Coming along good so far.

A little more 400 grit blocking and the body is ready for paint. The only components that needed any serious body work were the metal hood half's.

Thanks 383Duece! Hard work, but the end result keeps me plugging away on my days off....and some nights.

Today it has been raining, so paint will wait for a nicer weekend. Not looking to mess it up this late in the process. So I worked on the dash which was going to wait until after paint.
Got it past half done now, needing only block sanding and a final check for air holes and scratches.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1416691561.937344.jpg

Fit the dash panel as well today.

Finished up the sanding and laid on 3 heavy coats of high build with the 1.8 tip set up in my spray gun.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1416691628.309385.jpg

Wet sand this week and it'll get painted with the car next week during my long thanksgiving weekend. Hopefully I'll give thanks it's finally painted. lol

Not sure what I want to do for the finished dash. Gloss, two tone gloss and satin... Maybe get some pin stripes on it and clear over it all.

    Hmmmm

    Rain rain go away....

    Hoping to paint Vicky Saturday.

I did get to fix a super nice 37 Ford neutral safety system today. He was on his way to Turkey Rod Run and it loosened up.
Nice satin black, with yellow spokes...

J walking, I was hoping the metal frame I built would be a good base for sinking self tapping screws for panels?

I am wondering if I'll need to have more material around the windows?

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1416974154.268088.jpg

    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

**** Williams from California made the polyform bodies since at least the sixties . I used to see him at a lot of shows. That is a nice body. He is a perfectionist.

Kan Kustom, I think it's a polyform body, I know the fenders and running boards are. I tried contacting them but haven't gotten a response yet. I do know the doors close solid and fit well, only needed a little finish work on their edges and minor adjustments of the door gaps. They were actually too tight in spots and removing material is easy as it gets.
The large flat areas were also actually flat. The only real body work was at the mold seams.

I have to figure out the garnish molding now. Never done them from scratch before. I'll be checking out ideas at Turkey Rod run this weekend for sure.

Went to Turkey Rod Run today. What a great show, if you have the legs to do the walking work, there is so much to see and buy!

I bought my door handle gaskets, headlight bar gaskets, headlight conduit, stainless hood handles, braided throttle cable ***embly, black ****on release seat belt sets and headlight switch.
I also talked to many vendors about other items I need.
Gauge set with 3-1/8 speedo(electronic), something to cover my ignition switch since it's visible at the base of the column.

I also saw a great deal on a 15" version of the 40 Ford wheel I'd love to have on the car, but not sure it would work with my chrome column, so didn't grab one.

I did hear a guy admiring a car for sale, then he commented, "oh geez it's a gl*** car, never mind!"

I couldn't help but think about some really poorly done steel cars I had seen in comparison for twice the money. I guess that's the curse... when you own one, you defend them, lol.

Kirker Satin black now. On to final ***embly, gl*** and wiring!
