yeah I know the ***le is kind of weird, did it like an ebay seller with important keywords to grab peoples attention. so anyways a buddy of mine was telling me that from about 1965 to maybe the early 70's a guy kept his 65 Falcon race car at his house. a friend of his dads or something. exact details are a little sketchy. this was a long time ago. he was like 5 - 10 years old while it was there. and he's not really a car guy like most of us but remembers lots of details about this car. just remember anything I say here can swing 10 degrees in either direction before the exact facts are known. he said it was purple metalflake. no stripes or anything, but it had " the OUTCAST" painted on the side in big ol letters. and stickers it had "organ pipes comin' out tha hood" with balls hooked together with a chain. fat wrinkle wall slicks, skinny tires up front and high up off the ground stance. said it had cragars, a moon tank, and "willy bars" with steel wheels he used to spin. it was a 4 speed, all or part of the interior was that grey trunk paint or spatter paint. had a roll bar of some sort. and a "black steerin wheel with holes in it" this was in Maryland and he remembers "Quasco" and "Buzz Creek" drag strips. which turns out to be Aquasco and Budds creek. said he called the guy who owned the car Stoney or Mr Stoney. it was hard to get more facts out of him. injected so it had to be serious race car. always had slicks. any of this ring any bells for anyone? again.. facts could have been skewed over time. Purple 65 Falcon race car injected with "willy bars" 65 - 70 in Maryland. the "Outcast" he's gonna call his mom and ask her about it, his pops has p***ed. facts subject to change without notice
Check the archives. There was a thread on here a few months back about Aquasco and a lot of folks posted a lot of pictures from that time period. Can't say for sure if you'll find pics of the car, but try PMing some of the locals who posted on that thread. They may be able to tell you more. It sounds very familiar in your description, but I'm at a loss. Good luck.....Don.
I've talked to some people about this car you speak of. They claimed it was the ex-Warbucks Phil Bonner Falcon. It was NOT the Bonner car. Phil's car was crushed by Ford after he turned it in for his longnose Mustang. That is the only information I have about this car. I've only seen one photo of it and don't have one in my collection.
that was a good idea... I seached aquasco and PM'd a couple of people who looked like they may have been there but so far no one who replied remembers it or actually went there. my friend told me he was little and making a bunch of racket in the house one night and his dad made him sleep in the garage. he remembers all these details about the traction bars and how the headers looked since he was on the floor next to it all night looking up at it. the owner was a black guy.. of which I'm guessing there weren't too many back then racing. that may jog some memories.
49ratfink, Man, I grew up at those strips. But that was a long time ago and I'm prone to lots of "senior moments", that Falcon sounds really familiar though and I for sure remember a black guy out of D.C. who raced a factory altered wheelbase car. I just sent mail to a couple of my old buds who where active racers back then, maybe they'll remember more detail. This pic is of a car I built when I was like 18, then sold it to the guys on the door. The mail I sent was to Brennan, hopefully he'll remember! The photo was taken at Capitol Raceway Park in Maryland.
Do you know where in the area your friend lived? Where was the house located? That info could go a long way toward jogging some memories. Do you know what his Dad's name was or how he was connected to the car's owner? Did they work together? Actually there were more black guys racing around this area than you might imagine.
his last name is Roach. I have no idea where the house was. as far as I know his dad was not into racing at all and I don't know the connection..
Sorry RatFink, I don't remember this one. That doesn't mean anything, I don't remember a lot of things. And as previously mentioned, there were a lot of black racers in the Wash. D.C. area back in those days. If it really had injectors, then it would have run in the gas cl***es (or maybe altered depending on engine placement etc.). Probably late 60's or early 70's. Most of us could not afford to do this with brand new cars. Good luck. Dave
After your PM, I asked a couple of guys that I thought might remember it but, no luck. Sorry man. Geez, if Dave Hales doesn't remember then I don't know what to tell you. Good luck with the hunt for info. Mike
I talked to my father about the Falcon, he says he remembers a falcon just as you described which used to cruise into the Mighty Moe, and was driven by a black fella- although he doesn't recall the guy's name. He said he doesn't recall it having an injected motor in it though, but that could've came later- or it may be a different car altogether. And It's a longshot so I don't know if it'll help, but he also said it sounds like something that a guy named Lou Carroll (spelling?) might've built. Lou had several cars- a '62 chevy, a wild and ungodly fast '60s corvette, along with a bunch of others- most had straight axles and wild paint/interior. Used to cruise around Forestville at or near the Pen-Mar shopping center.
this guy was a ford man. he sold the Falcon and had a brown Fairlane after. a race car but no name or stickers.
There used to be a late model injected straight axle Falcon that ran Aquasco and St.Marys similar to what you describe in the late 60s.Ran under the name "Eddie's Wild Thing".I believe it was an altered w/b steel car.Used to have some pics but they dissappeared many moons ago. Good luck.
you may check with Speed Unlimited in Maryland and see if anyone there remembers the car. that shops been around for awhile and someone may remember it or know something. Dave
Try Bill Pratt. He runs draglist.com. He's registered on here. He was also the PA announcer at Budds Creek, although a little later than late 60s early 70s.
..............................................I'm sure the younger guys don't remember it, but there used to be a radio spot for the shopping center that went........................."T'ain't far to Penn-Mar". Just had to throw that in here. Ask your Dad, Jason, I bet he remembers it............Don.
I'll check with him later but I'm sure he'll remember it. He lived in that area for years, and for the first couple years of my life we lived right down Rt. 4 from Penn-Mar off of Westphalia Road, where Miller & Long currently is. The house is gone but the garage my father built is still there. He's been a member of Forestville VFD since the late 60's and said they had a quarter mile marked out on Old Marlboro Pike right in front of the firehouse where they used to race.
